Legal Counsel; Retail Business (2 Position) at NMB Bank

Job Location : Head Office

Job Purpose:

Responsible in preparation of security documentations and other lending related contracts under the retail business.

Main Responsibilities:

• Drafting, preparation and review of security documents and other lending related contracts for retail clients.
• Follow up on registration of security documents.
• Provide legal opinion to the respective business units, branches and other Committees within the bank when requested.
• Check and acknowledge receipt of security documents submitted to Legal for safe custody.
• Follow up with respective departments/branches on issues that are pending including return of security documents for safe custody.
• Train branch officials on different lending procedures, documentation, and registration procedures.
• Support all NMB branches in all legal Retail lending issues (more than 230 branches).
• Respond to security documents status queries from branches and other departments.
• Assist with the discharge of security documents and transfers under power of sale.
• Prepare reports as directed by the supervisor.
• Support the Litigation Unit as requested by the Head of Legal.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Understanding of Legal, Compliance and experience in drafting of legal documents.
• Must have sufficient knowledge of all legal regulations in Tanzania.
• Drafting and Review Skills
• Commercial law background and Document management
• Adaptability, Communication skills, Continuous Learning, Customer Focus, Planning and Organizational skills.
• Ability of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
• A quick learner who can work under minimum supervision.
• Must display flexibility in day-to-day work.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in law (LLB)
• Must be a registered Advocate.
• Minimum of 3 years working experience in a legal environment.
• Experience in drafting of legal documents.
