Background

MS TCDC is primarily a learning and training institution. Due to the growing need for learning and training services across its partner network, in the year 2022, the institution seeks to step up and diversify its learning ambition and work portfolio. As a result, MS TCDC wishes to secure the services of a self-motivated and professional Learning and Impact Specialist to support, strengthen and develop the methodological capacity of the TCDC Trainers Team and will be the primary responsibility for the learning quality at TCDC.

The Learning and Impact Specialist’s role will support Learning Product Development, Learning Quality Assurance, and Collaboration with Trainers, Facilitators, Consultants and Associate Trainers.

Learning and Impact Specialist core job role and responsibilities:

Learning Product Development: The Learning and Impact Specialist is responsible for learning and training products’ (on-line and off-line) development, and delivery. This role includes responsibility for curriculum development, review, and renewal from time to time.
Delivering Training in Areas of Expertise: The Learning and Impact Specialist is responsible for delivering training depending on need and demand from time to time.
Learning Quality and Impact Assurance: The Learning and Impact Specialist is responsible for ensuring the high quality of learning and training products and services of the centre by ensuring that TCDC’s learning development cycle is adhered to and that training is delivered with respect to TCDC’s learning principles
Collaboration with Trainers, Associates and Consultants: TCDCs delivers most of its learning and training services through a team of full-time and part-time expert trainers and associates/consultants. The Learning and Impact Specialist will be responsible for quality assurance of the work and activities of the trainers who work on the standard, tailor-made, and other forms of training services offered both on-campus and off-campus through face-to-face and online formats.

Routine activities associated with the Learning and Impact Specialist job role:

The role of the Learning and Impact Specialist is to strengthen the training methodology and quality while understanding that all trainers will have their own area of specialization (content development).
In close cooperation with the rest of the trainers, the Learning and Impact Specialist will provide timely and consistent inputs to ensure all training follows TCDC Trainings Principles, Guidelines and Methodologies.
The Learning and Impact Specialist will work closely with the head of the Learning and Training Unit (LTU) and is expected to develop strong relationships with the GP learning specialists, Global movement specialists to ensure high-quality training is being delivered.
The Learning and Impact Specialist will spend a great deal of her/his time facilitating training either on-campus, off-campus or online.
The Learning and Impact Specialist will be the key focal for developing and conducting Training of Trainers (ToT).
In collaboration with the LTU, they will work on the selection of trainers to include them in the pool Associate Trainer.
In collaboration with the head of LTU, the Learning and Impact Specialist will take lead in developing evaluation methods for TCDC’s learning interventions.
The Learning and Impact Specialist will continuously monitor and evaluate TCDC’s learning interventions and report issues, success, and suggestions to the head of LTU.

The ideal candidate has the following minimum professional qualities and qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Development Studies, Educational Studies, Pedagogy, International Development, Global Studies, or any other related studies.

Required career background and professional experience:

Evidence of at least two years of experience in facilitating training using participatory adult learning, pedagogy, designing and delivering or facilitating online training.
Demonstrable experience in curriculum development and training evaluation.
Previous experience in a similar level in a training institution or development organization.
Knowledge of Learning Management Systems is a plus.
Administrative Skills in Microsoft Suite, CRM is a plus.
Exceptional written and verbal skills in English.
Excellent interpersonal skills and working in a multinational setting.
Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills in English are essential.
Flexibility and advanced critical thinking skills.
Excellent collaborator.
Integrity and professionalism.

Terms and conditions:

The position of Learning and Impact Specialist will be based at the MS TCDC in Usa River, Arusha under the following national terms and conditions:
The position is offered under MS TCDC’s employment terms with a fixed-term contract of one (1) year with the possibility of extension depending on the future programmatic focus, needs of MS TCDC and availability of funds.
A basic salary under MS TCDC’s scheme of service Step 82 – according to experience and education when relevant.
