Job Summary:
Investment Analyst is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and managing investment opportunities related to mining and other assigned projects. This role involves conducting financial analysis, due diligence, risk assessment, and providing recommendations to optimize investment decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
Investment Analysis
- Identify potential investment opportunities in the mining sector, including exploration, development, and acquisition projects.
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis, feasibility studies, and valuation assessments. • Evaluate the financial viability and potential returns on investment (ROI) for mining and other assigned projects.
Due Diligence
- Perform comprehensive due diligence on mining projects, including technical, financial, legal, and environmental aspects.
- Assess risks associated with investments and develop risk mitigation strategies for decision making.
Financial Modelling
- Create and maintain detailed financial models to forecast project revenues, costs, and cash flows. • Conduct sensitivity analysis to assess the impact of various factors on project financials. Strategic Planning
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align investment decisions with the organisation’s strategic goals.
- Assist in developing and refining investment strategies in the organisation business areas.
Investment Recommendations
- Provide clear and well-documented investment recommendations to management and stakeholders as required.
- Present findings and proposals in a compelling manner.
Portfolio Management
- Monitor the performance of existing investments in the company portfolio. • Identify opportunities for portfolio optimization, divestment, or expansion.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including mining companies, industry experts, and financial institutions.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay updated on changes in regulations that may impact investment decisions and notify the immediate supervisor in case of changes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant mining laws, regulations, and industry standards. Reporting
- Prepare regular reports on the performance of project investments, financial forecasts, and investment strategies.
- Keep stakeholders informed of progress and outcomes of the various investment projects. • Perform any other relevant duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor from time to time
Key Qualifications
Academic and Experience Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance and investment, commerce and management, economics, or related field
- At least 3 years of experience in investment analysis, financial modelling, or project evaluation, preferably in the mining or natural resources industry
Technical Competencies
- Familiarity with mining regulations and compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of the mining and investment specific financial metrics and valuation methods. • Familiarity with relevant financial and investment analysis tools and software • Strong financial analysis skills and proficiency in financial modelling.
- Understanding of risk assessment and mitigation strategies in the mining sector. • Project management fundamentals

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
