Puma Energy Tanzania Limited hereby invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced Tanzanians to fill the position of Head of Commercial to lead their dynamic Commercial department. This is a senior executive role reporting directly to the Managing Director.
The Head of Commercial will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing commercial strategies to support business development and drive the company’s growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing and Implementing Commercial Strategies: Aligning commercial strategies with company goals to drive growth.
- Identifying Market Opportunities: Identifying new market opportunities and areas for expansion or diversification.
- New Business Opportunities: Identifying opportunities in sectors such as retail, aviation, and alternative fuels.
- Building Relationships: Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key partners and stakeholders.
- Contract Negotiation: Negotiating contracts and closing agreements to maximize profits.
- Business Development: Leading business development activities, including negotiations, partnerships, and alliances.
- Customer Base Expansion: Expanding the company’s customer base and managing key client relationships.
- Sales & Marketing: Overseeing the company’s sales, marketing, and business development activities to maximize revenue.
- Sales Process: Driving the sales process from plan to close.
- Marketing Budget Management: Developing and managing the marketing budget, allocating and investing funds wisely.
- Ensuring Market Demands: Ensuring the company’s products and services meet market demands and customer needs.
- Contract Management: Negotiating and managing contracts with suppliers, customers, and partners.
- Compliance: Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Financial Alignment: Working with the finance department to align commercial objectives with financial targets and developing pricing strategies.
- Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating commercial risks, including market volatility and credit risks.
- Risk Strategies: Implementing risk management strategies to protect the company’s assets and interests.
- Staying Current: Staying abreast of trends and changes in the energy sector and adapting strategies accordingly.
- Team Leadership: Leading and developing a high-performing commercial team.
- Performance Goals: Establishing and monitoring performance and development goals, assigning accountabilities, setting objectives, and establishing priorities.
- Industry Trends: Keeping abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics.
- Using Market Insights: Using market insights to inform decision-making and strategic planning.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including government entities, industry associations, and communities.
- Public Representation: Representing the company at industry events, conferences, and public forums.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree: A holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Engineering, or related fields. A Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
Experience:
- A working experience of not less than 10 years, preferably in key account management, sales, customer service, and commercial areas, with at least 5 years in a senior executive level.
Industry Knowledge:
- Understanding of global markets and the ability to operate in a multinational environment. Experience in the oil and gas industry, particularly within midstream and downstream sectors, will be an added advantage.
Ethics:
- Must be of good moral character and ethical background, both personally and professionally.
