Job Purpose
The Head Digital Platforms & Channels Support is responsible for leading the strategy, implementation, second-level support, and continuous improvement of all digital banking channels, card platforms, and integration architectures across CRDB Bank.
This role oversees high availability, resilience, and security for Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, Agency Banking, USSD, ATM/POS switches, and card management systems (Debit, Credit, Prepaid). Additionally, the position drives the design and governance of integration platforms (ESB, APIs, microservices), ensuring seamless connectivity between core banking systems, fintech ecosystems, third-party providers, and international payment networks (Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay, RuPay).
Key Responsibilities
1. Digital Channels Strategy & Operations

Lead the strategy, roadmap, availability, performance, and continuous improvement of all digital channels, aligning with CRDB’s digital transformation goals.

Drive customer experience, adoption, and performance across Mobile Banking, Internet Banking, Agency Banking, Corporate Digital Banking, Merchant Portals, and Open Banking.

Ensure 24×7 operational support, proactive observability, incident resolution, capacity planning, and business continuity across all digital platforms.
2. Card & Payment Platforms Governance

Provide strategic oversight for card management systems, ATM/POS switching platforms, and card production systems.

Lead integration and certification activities with national switches, regional payment ecosystems, and international card schemes (Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay, RuPay).

Drive adoption of emerging payment technologies, including Embedded Finance, Digital Wallets, QR Payments, and Instant Payments.
3. Integration, Architecture & Innovation

Oversee Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), API Management, and Open Banking platforms while promoting an API-first and microservices architecture.

Establish integration governance standards to ensure secure connectivity across core banking systems, fintech partners, government portals, and regional subsidiaries.

Lead proof-of-concepts (PoCs) and innovation initiatives (including AI-enabled customer services) to drive operational efficiency and business growth.
4. Governance, Security & Vendor Management
-
Embed security-by-design and maintain compliance with SDLC, DevSecOps, PCI-DSS, data protection regulations, card scheme rules, and Bank of Tanzania (BoT) guidelines.

Manage CAPEX/OPEX budgets and optimize technology costs through platform consolidation, automation, and rationalization.

Oversee strategic relationships with vendors, fintechs, and service providers, ensuring SLA compliance and service quality.

Build and mentor a high-performing ICT team through talent development, succession planning, and performance management.
Educational & Professional Qualifications
Required Education
-
Bachelor’s Degree: ICT, Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Master’s Degree: Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Telecommunications, Business Information Systems, or a related field.
Required Experience
-
Minimum of 7 years of experience in Banking Technology or Digital Banking environments.

Minimum of 3 years in a Senior Management position leading Digital Channels, Payments, Integrations, or Cards platforms.
-
Proven experience managing large-scale digital ecosystems across multiple markets or regional subsidiaries.
-
Demonstrated experience supporting Mobile/Internet Banking, API Gateways, Card Switches (ATM/POS), and Open Banking ecosystems.
Preferred Certifications & Technical Skills
-
Certifications (Added Advantage): ITIL/COBIT, ISO 27001/PCI-DSS, TOGAF, PMP/PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum, CISM, or CISSP.

Technical Mastery: Cloud-native platforms, containerization (Kubernetes, Rancher), API Gateways, Enterprise Integration Platforms (ESB), and DevSecOps practices.

Leadership & Strategy: Executive-level stakeholder management, vendor negotiation, crisis management, and financial/budget management.
