Role Overview & Responsibilities

The Geologist 2 – Exploration Technical designs project-based exploration work plans, monitors field execution, and conducts technical data interpretation and 3D geological modeling. The position integrates geological data for target ranking within and outside GGML concessions to drive resource additions and conversions to mineral reserves.

• Exploration Project Management: Develop short-term exploration work programs feeding into the annual budget and execution strategy.

• Drilling Supervision & Execution: Supervise reconnaissance and resource conversion drilling programs as directed by the Exploration Manager.

• Geological Modeling & Interpretation: Analyze spatial data, perform detailed geological mapping, core logging, and QA/QC sampling, and construct 3D models using Leapfrog or Datamine.

• Supervision & Safety Oversight: Coordinate junior geologists, field technicians, and contractor teams; enforce departmental safety operating procedures and ISO standards.

• Budgeting & Contractor Performance: Track weekly drilling expenditures, conduct contractor performance evaluations, and deliver regular technical progress reports.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology, Advanced Diploma, or higher qualification in Geosciences.

• Experience: 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in mineral exploration, with a focus on gold exploration across varied geological environments (particularly Greenstone Belts).

• Technical Skills & Software Competency:

  • Proficiency in 3D geological modeling and GIS software (Leapfrog, Datamine, ArcGIS).

  • Advanced understanding of geological data interpretation and structural control in gold systems.

• Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge:

  • Solid understanding of the Tanzanian Mining Act 2010 (as amended in 2017).

  • Familiarity with safety and environmental management standards (ISO 45001:2018 & ISO 14001:2015).
