The Tanzania Sunflower Processors Association (TASUPA) is a national-level membership organization committed to promoting and protecting the interests of sunflower oil processors across Tanzania. TASUPA plays a vital role in coordinating the sector, advocating for policies and regulations that support industry growth, facilitating value chain development, and contributing to the production of a competitive, high-quality, and sustainable edible oil industry.
To achieve its mission and drive sector transformation, TASUPA is seeking a dynamic and highly experienced General Manager (GM) to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight. The GM will lead the association in strengthening member engagement, fostering partnerships with government agencies, development partners, and private sector actors, and ensuring that TASUPA’s strategic objectives are effectively implemented to advance the competitiveness, sustainability, and impact of the sunflower processing sector in Tanzania.
- Position Overview
The General Manager (GM) will provide overall strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Tanzania Sunflower Processors Association (TASUPA), ensuring that the organization fulfills its mission of promoting and supporting the sunflower processing sector in Tanzania. The GM will be responsible for managing all day-to-day operations, including financial management, human resources, compliance, and organizational governance. In addition, the GM will represent TASUPA in national and regional advocacy and policy forums, working closely with government agencies, development partners, and private sector stakeholders to advance favorable policies and create a supportive business environment. The GM will also foster strategic partnerships, mobilize resources, and lead initiatives that enhance the competitiveness, productivity, and sustainability of the sunflower value chain, ensuring that TASUPA remains a credible and influential voice in the edible oil industry.
- Key Responsibilities
3.1 Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement TASUPA’s strategic plan in line with the Board’s vision.
- Identify growth opportunities and initiatives to enhance the competitiveness of sunflower processors.
- Oversee internal management, financial management, operations, production base, market linkages, risk management, enabling environment, and climate resilience.
- Provide thought leadership on industry trends, innovation, and market development within the oilseeds and edible oil sector in Tanzania.
3.2 Operational Management
- Oversee daily operations, including financial management, human resources, and compliance.
- Ensure effective governance structures and adherence to organizational policies.
- Prepare and present periodic performance and impact reports to the Board.
3.3 Advocacy and Representation
- Represent TASUPA in policy dialogues, government forums, and stakeholder meetings.
- Advocate for favorable policies, regulations, and incentives that support sunflower processing and agribusiness development in Tanzania.
- Position of TASUPA as a credible voice for the sunflower processing industry.
3.4 Member Services and Engagement
- Strengthening member relations through effective communication, support services, and responsiveness.
- Organize capacity-building programs, workshops, and networking events for members.
- Drive initiatives that increase member participation and satisfaction.
3.5 Partnership Development
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with government agencies, development partners, and private sector actors.
- Mobilize financial and technical resources to support TASUPA’s programs and initiatives.
- Promote collaborative projects that advance the sunflower value chain.

- Qualifications and experience
The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field, with a master’s degree in business administration, Agricultural Economics, or Development Studies considered an added advantage. They should have a minimum of two to five years of progressive leadership experience, preferably in agribusiness, agro-processing, or association management, with a proven track record in strategic planning, financial oversight, and stakeholder engagement. Experience working with government agencies, development partners, and private sector actors is required, along with a strong understanding of agricultural value chains, particularly oilseeds and sunflower processing. The candidate must possess excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills, proficiency in financial management and resource mobilization, and the ability to lead and motivate teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
