Job Overview

CCBRT is seeking a dedicated Specialist in Internal Medicine (Emergency Physician) to lead its Emergency Department. The position focuses on providing timely, evidence-based medical care for patients with acute illnesses or injuries. Responsibilities include managing rapid patient assessment, resuscitation, stabilization, and leading departmental workflow, training, and disaster preparedness.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and update Emergency Department guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and clinical workflows.

• Conduct rapid assessment, triage, resuscitation, and stabilization for medical, surgical, pediatric, obstetric, gynecological, and trauma emergencies.

• Order and interpret laboratory and imaging diagnostics to determine patient admission, management, or referral.

• Manage critically ill patients in the High Dependency Unit (HDU), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and specialized clinical wards.

• Lead training and clinical mentoring for doctors, nurses, medical students, and allied health professionals.

• Formulate disaster preparedness and mass-casualty response protocols.

• Partner with hospital leadership on business unit development and medical equipment procurement planning.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Master’s Degree (MMED) in Emergency Medicine from a recognized university.

• Active registration and valid practicing license from the Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT).

• Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in Emergency Medicine within the Tanzanian healthcare context.

• Certifications in ACLS, ATLS, PALS, or related life-support courses are an added advantage.

• Additional qualifications in Healthcare Management or Business Administration are beneficial.
