Job Position: Corporate Social Responsibility Programme Coordinator (CSR PC)

Purpose of the position:
The Corporate Social Responsibility Programme Coordinator supports CSR Programme Manager to drive the community development operational strategy, providing leadership, strategic direction, and effective and practical on ground management of the implementation and improvement of the program and its impacts in the assigned programme area/landscape through consistent application of Free Prior Informed Consent (FPIC).
Key Result Areas and accountabilities:
- Implement a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation system which measures the effectiveness of community development projects as well as the social return on investment and value add to the company.
- Ensure social compliance and maintain NFC’s social license to operate including providing support to the forestry management team in the Forest Stewardship CouncilTM (FSCTM) certification and auditing processes.
- Submit financial and narrative monthly & weekly reports; grant/project and CSR incident reports to CSR Programme Manager.
- Use the NFC M&E tools, forms and systems to constantly monitor and learn from the impacts of NFC projects.
- Coordinate all community development projects in the communities surrounding the plantations including areas of health, education, and income generation, financial inclusion, gender and any other innovative projects to build an agency and reduce the dependency mindset in the assigned programme area consistent with the tenets of the Social Development Policy.
- Promote the primary shared value projects and Outgrowers in the assigned programme area to build agency and reduce the dependency mindset promote in the assigned programme area consistent with the tenets of the Social Development Policy
- Assist CSR Programme Manager to compile Tanzania contribution to annual group Sustainability Report and distribute report to all stakeholders in Tanzania.
- Provide proactive, cooperative support in dealing with operational issues including but not limited to issues to do with land, government, labor, community, public relations and stakeholders generally.
- Provide weekly reporting to the CSR Programme Manager and support them in writing CSR related reports, grant applications or other documents.
- Work closely with the New Forests Company operations team to further the interests of the business.
- Actively assist the land acquisition team in the process of securing land to enable the forestry department to have sufficient land for the planned plantation establishment.
- Support forestry operations in ensuring the highest international labor health and safety practices, including the oversight, coordination and implementation of health services to labor in the assigned programme area.
- Advise the CSR Programme Manager regularly to identify, assess, measure and monitor major business risks and build into the management systems/processes the mitigation measures as required.
- Develop an awareness of the legal framework underlying land processes and notify management of any changes in the same.
- Keep the local plantation manager informed of any developments which may affect the operations of the plantation.
- Provide regular feedback to CSR Programme Manager on plantation issues, identified risks and mitigation suggestions.
- Remain attuned to, conscious of and communicative about risks to the company and company activities.
- Support the CSR Programme Manager in continuing to build strong, strategic relations with government officials and institutions and managing those relationships at different levels.
- Support CSR Programme Manager to Manage the recruitment and performance of staff in Tanzania’s Corporate Responsibility department.
- Responsible to the CSR Programme Manager for the line management of staff and budget resources assigned to the programme area.
- Coordinate the general liaison between the company and the community.
- Collaborating with associated organizations in mutual community projects
- Network with local government officers, civic leaders and religious leaders to achieve improved relations and developmental results.
- Provide plantation operations with any relevant support in relation to community and plantation cross-cutting issues.
- Demonstrate the highest level of ethics and principles in all dealings with all stakeholders.
- Attend meetings and forums where CSR matters are discussed, approved and escalated.
- Support effective mandatory reporting of company activities and status updates to government and other stakeholders.
- Promote NFC and forestry in a positive light towards communities and other stakeholders.
- Support CSR Programme Manager to lead the annual budgeting process for the corporate responsibility programme; manage and oversee the implementation of these annual budgets and work plans.
- Author grant applications and funding proposals and act as the main liaison for the business with the various funding agencies as assigned.
- At all times, be a custodian of sound business ethics and practices and be prepared to report any instance which could harm the business.

- Equally comfortable facilitating a community meeting as a representative of the Company or at a senior management meeting.
- Fluent in English and Kiswahili; ability to learn or existing knowledge of other relevant languages.
- Possession of valid driver’s license

- Relevant Degree in Community Development
