Shanta Mining Company Limited is seeking a Compliance Officer to ensure that all company operations, procurement processes, and community initiatives fully comply with Local Content and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) regulations.
This role will provide advisory, facilitative, and coordination support across departments to ensure compliance activities are well-organized, reporting obligations to regulators are met, and potential risks are identified and addressed promptly.
Key Responsibilities
- Local Content & CSR Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with Local Content Regulations across procurement, contracting, and supplier engagement processes.
- Provide expert advice on local content thresholds, reporting obligations, and regulatory interpretations.
- Coordinate the preparation and submission of annual procurement forecasts in alignment with approved Local Content Plans.
- Prepare and issue compliance opinions for each procurement process to confirm adherence to Local Content requirements.
- Facilitate the preparation and submission of sole-sourcing applications to the Mining
- Commission with full justification.
- Oversee the preparation and timely submission of quarterly and annual Local Content and CSR performance reports to relevant authorities.
- Monitor CSR projects and community engagements to ensure compliance with commitments and demonstrate measurable social impact.
- Conduct training and awareness sessions on Local Content, procurement compliance, and CSR obligations across the organization.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience:
- 3–5 years in regulatory compliance, governance, or legal advisory.
- Prior experience with Local Content and CSR frameworks is strongly preferred.
- Experience in the mining or exploration sector is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with government regulators and compliance systems (e.g., LCCSR-MIS).
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of Tanzanian mining legislation, particularly Local Content and CSR regulations.
- Knowledge of compliance management systems and risk assessment processes.
- Excellent communication, advisory, and report-writing skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools.
- Effective stakeholder management and facilitation abilities.
