DUTY STATION: MWANZA

1. PURPOSE STATEMENT OF THE JOB

To Manage all Jema Africa branches and her sister Companies accounting functions financial transactions, assets liabilities and cash flow in compliance with JAL Standard Operation Procedures;

BRANCH ACCOUNTING OPERATIONS, TAX AND STOCK CONTROL

  • Checks and maintains daily financial transactions, Store’s operations in line with Jema Africa standards Operations Procedures.
  • Prepares assets liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options
  • Summaries current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement and other report.
  • Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedure
  • Versifying and inspecting financial transactions by documents
  • Prepares payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements.
  • Answer’s accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulation.
  • Complies with country and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends

TAXATION AND EXTERNAL AUDITS

  • Reviews monthly VAT, PAYE, SDL, returns and submissions to TRA, prepares all documentation and returns reviews and monitors monthly the annual projected tax payable, liaises with TRA for taxation audit in line with TRA Tax Regulations
  • Asses and Research difficult Tax Issues to identify Solutions.
  • Prepare Accurate quarterly and Annual Tax Report
  • Attends to all TRA audit queries relating to direct and indirect taxes daily
  • Liaises with TRA and the external consultants for taxation audit and addresses anomalies in line with TRA Tax Regulations;
  • Prepare Tax Returns payments necessary paperwork’s and reports
  • Determine Tax Servings and recommend strategies to improve profits
  • Manage and Maintain Company Tax Data Base
  • Reviews and approves monthly VAT returns for submission to the TRA (Tanzanian Revenue Authority);
  • Reviews and approves withholding tax returns for submission to the TRA;
  • Reviews and approves the monthly PAYE, SDL, returns for submission to TRA
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

FINANCIAL DATA MANAGEMENT

  • Posts all Financial data in QuickBooks in the same day in line with JAL SOP’s;
  • In Conjunctions with Branch Managers Checks and records stock in quick books balance daily.
  • Secure financial information by completing database backups
  • Document and filing all financial transactions.
  • Prepares payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements.
  • Guides accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions.
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance with CPA
