Role Purpose

The Quality and Safety Officer supports the Quality Assurance Department in embedding high-quality healthcare standards across the organization. The incumbent will monitor and assess process progress, lead the execution of the CCBRT Quality Improvement Plan (QIP), and drive Nursing and Midwifery clinical audits to ensure safety and excellence in patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Quality Management System (QMS):

    • Lead and support 5S, KAIZEN, and Total Quality Management (TQM) frameworks across hospital operations.

    • Define and integrate the Quality Management System into the hospital’s HMIS platform.

    • Conduct internal 5S, KAIZEN, TQM, and Lean training sessions and awareness campaigns for staff.

  • Nursing & Midwifery Quality Processes:

    • Assist the Head of Quality Assurance with daily operational quality needs.

    • Execute internal quality audits, document results, track corrective actions, and write detailed performance reports.

    • Support complaint management procedures and facilitate scientific problem-solving processes.

  • Monitoring, Assessment & Documentation:

    • Evaluate compliance against agreed QMS standards and track QIP progress across all units.

    • Assess clinical documentation, identify skill gaps, and deliver targeted capacity-building sessions.

    • Assist department teams in standardizing, drafting, and updating SOPs, guidelines, and operational procedures.

  • Customer Feedback & Quality Improvement Plan (QIP):

    • Gather patient and client feedback; prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly progress reports.

    • Train hospital teams on areas requiring service delivery adjustments based on client input.

    • Coordinate internal assessments regarding Infection Prevention and Control (IPC).

  • Clinical Audits:

    • Conduct ongoing nursing, midwifery, and general clinical audits.

Candidate Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in General Nursing, Midwifery, Psychiatric Nursing, or Nursing Administration.

  • Experience: 6+ years of clinical experience. Prior exposure to or experience working within a hospital Quality section is a distinct advantage.

  • Clinical Expertise: Proven clinical skills and patient management capabilities.

  • Training & Leadership: Skilled as an adult trainer, mentor, or coach across different healthcare cadres with a strong ability to mobilize multidisciplinary teams.

  • Audit & Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical capabilities and demonstrated experience conducting clinical audits.

  • Language & Tech Skills: Fluent in spoken and written Swahili and English; computer literate.

  • Core Traits: Proactive, eager to learn, flexible, and efficient at multitasking.
