There are 24 national teams from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) battling to be crowned Kings of the Continent in the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations over the next month.

The 2023 tournament is being held in Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) and kicks off on Saturday 13 January, 2024.

This year, Nigeria will make their 19th AFCON appearance, having been crowned champions three times prior; in 2013, 1994, and 1980.

Led by head coach José Peseiro, the Super Eagles will be keen to right the wrongs of recent years after they failed to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Their most recent AFCON campaign was in 2019 when they finished in third place after a 2-1 loss to eventual champions Algeria in the semi-final.

Nigeria find themselves in Group A of this year’s AFCON, along with Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, and hosts Côte d’Ivoire.

How to watch Nigeria at the 2023 AFCON: Full schedule and live match times

The 2023 AFCON, being held in 2024, will be broadcast across Africa and worldwide, with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) looking to make the tournament available across the continent on free-to-air TV.

Other broadcasters include beIN Sport, which will stream the tournament in the Middle East and North Africa region as well as in France and the United States; CANAL+, which will show the event in French in Sub-Saharan Africa; StarTimes in Sub-Saharan Africa on their Sports Premium, Sports Life and Beta Sports channels; GTV in Ghana; AfroSport in Nigeria; Supersports in South Africa; ZIGGO Sport in the Netherlands; Sky Sports in the UK; and the CAF’s own media and YouTube channels will also show games in some countries.
