Responsibilities
The Graduate Mining Engineer will be responsible for:
- Providing timely plans to the underground operations team to enable achievement of objectives set in the Mine Business Plans.
- Performing drilling and blasting QAQC, including borehole tracking.
- Conducting Ikon logging blasting.
- Creating daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly schedules and forecasts.
- Ensuring compliance with Mine Plans and monitoring their effectiveness through daily engagement with the underground operations team.
- Conducting mining equipment productivity simulation and scenario planning.
- Identifying continuous business improvement opportunities.
- Supporting safety, health, and environmental programmes.
- Ensuring that company policies, procedures, and work standards are adhered to and kept up to date.
- Working, cooperating, and supporting contractors or consultants working for Gokona Underground.
- Reducing dilution and ore loss through optimized manual design of stope final shapes.
Qualification requirements
Applicants must have:
- A degree in Mining Engineering.
- Statutory registration in Tanzania.
Experience and competencies needed
Applicants should have the following experience and competencies:
- At least 3 months to 1 year or less of practical experience in mining engineering.
- Understanding of the basic Mines Health and Safety Act.
- Good knowledge and recognition of building materials.
- A full driving license.
- Good listening skills and the ability to work as a team player.
- A methodical and organized approach, with the ability to work on own initiative.
- Ability to provide an effective and courteous service.
- A flexible approach to working arrangements.
- Good command of written and spoken English communication skills.
- Knowledge of hazard identification and risk assessment.

About North Mara Gold Mine
The North Mara Gold Mine is located in north-west Tanzania, in the Tarime District of the Mara Region. It is approximately 100 kilometres east of Lake Victoria and 20 kilometres south of the Kenyan border.
North Mara started commercial production in 2002. The mine is a combined open pit and underground operation from two deposits:
