Position: School Nurse
Duty Station: Kibaha-Pwani, Tanzania
Reporting To: Deputy Headmaster – Core values & Operations.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

• Provide medical attention to any member of the school’s Students and staff.
• Provides care for injuries and acute illness for all students and long-term management of students with special health care needs.
• To do screening and referral for health conditions
• Prepare and maintain student clinic records and prepare required reports
• Providing health-related education to students and staff in both individual and group settings.
• Overseeing infection control measures
• Overseeing medication administration, health care procedures, and the development of healthcare plans
• As required take students to the hospital and contact parents of sick students in line with school procedures.
• The employee shall serve the school during work hours and shall not leave the premises without oral/written permission form from the Headmaster.
• The employee may be required to work after hours and on weekends during extracurricular events such as sports, exhibitions, seminars, parent meetings, etc. even during the school vacation.
• Devote time and attention to this service unless called on to assist in other areas that are decided on by the
• Deputy Headmaster Core Values and Operations. However, health care is the primary concern.
• Actively participate in the Health Checks performed by external doctors and monitor the follow ups required.

Other Duties

• Periodically suggest improvements to the department’s procedure and submit to your supervisor for approval.
• Participate and support fellow staff in school mission related activities such as all School Celebration Days throughout the year.
• Participate in student selection process, in particular working after hours on rest days and public holidays up to 20 Saturdays per annum.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by Head of Department, Manager and Deputy Director.

Qualification, Skills and Attributes

• A minimum of Diploma in Nursing
• A minimum of three years’ work experience
• Must be a registered or enrolled Nurse
•  Problem solver and flexible
• An individual who pays attention to detail
• Quick responder to emergencies.
• Good written and verbal English and Kiswahili skills.
• Must demonstrate a high level of confidentiality, integrity and professionalism
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
• Good knowledge on Ms- word and Excel

Position: School Matronship
Duty Station: Kibaha-Pwani, Tanzania
Reporting To: Deputy Headmaster

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

• Supervise cleanliness and watering gardens.
• Make the follow-up on evening activities and ensure that balls and other game gear/ materials are available.
• MUST have the water keys and the kitchen should make sure water is not misused
• She should supervise preps and do roll call as much as possible,
• She must make sure and emphasize all students speak English, all the time, (suggest the best way to make them speak)
• she should take measures if any indiscipline happens and report to the discipline master the following day
• Should monitor health issues and provide assistance when it is needed., should work with a nurse to see which time to go to the dispensary
• She must write a report for the previous night before she takes off her duty
• It is necessary that matron is punctual at work and are responsible for their duties.
• Remember all students are under your care and supervision during the whole time of night, anything that will happen during your duty, you will be held accountable.
• Should have meetings with prefects and students on how to behave well and for leaders, how well to do their activities and Supervise-Minutes should be taken during the meeting.
• Advice and support as a parent will be very important as our students need close support and follow-up
• Maintain social distance and show your professionalism, students should respect you and learn from you (you will be a role model) help students to see how important a matron is and there is no gap between a teacher and a matron.
• The matron should monitor behavior, discipline, smartness, and good arrangement of beds, and make prefects do their responsibility
• Ensure the cleanliness of the school all the time

Qualifications

• Diploma on social work or any other related
• 10 years of experience
• Experience working with students, particularly girls, preferred
• Experience in counseling is a plus
• Excellent spoken and written Swahili and English
• Interest in and ability to live in Pwani
• Experience working with vulnerable populations preferred
• Ability to work well independently
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage, encourage, and build the capacity of others
