Job Overview
The Head of Materials Management oversees the end-to-end purchasing, warehouse, and inventory operations for Aga Khan Health Services, Tanzania. This leadership role ensures that medical supplies, specialized hospital equipment, and daily operational resources are procured cost-effectively and managed efficiently to support quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee departmental budget, procurement operations, and supplier relationship management.

Source high-end medical equipment for Radiology, ICU, Laboratory, and Operating Rooms across local and international markets.

Manage hospital inventory control systems using FEFO (First Expiry, First Out), Min/Max levels, and cold chain protocols.

Implement supply chain ERP system modules and Lean inventory techniques to reduce costs and lead times.

Lead and mentor the materials management team while maintaining compliance with health, safety, and industry regulations.
Requirements

Master’s degree in Business, Commerce, Materials Management, or a related field.

Professional registration with the Procurement and Supplies Professionals and Technicians Board (PSPTB).

Minimum of 7 years of supply chain experience in a healthcare setting, with at least 4 years managing healthcare inventory and warehousing.

Proven experience implementing ERP procurement systems and managing medical cold chain supply networks
