Position Overview
The Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services for staff, visitors, and authorized personnel within the SOS Children’s Villages Mwanza Program. Reporting to the Logistics and Administration Officer, the incumbent is entrusted with the safety of children and staff, the care of organizational property, and upholding the reputation of SOS Children’s Villages Tanzania. The ideal candidate will act as a positive role model for village children at all times.
Key Responsibilities

Transportation Services: Operate vehicles safely and responsibly to transport staff, visitors, and authorized personnel across required locations. Drivers (2 Posts) at SOS Children’s Villages — September 2026

Vehicle Maintenance: Ensure assigned vehicles are kept in clean, optimal working condition; adhere to routine service schedules and report any mechanical faults or performance issues immediately to the supervisor

Logistics & Dispatch: Execute the timely dispatch and collection of official documents, mail, and packages to and from partners, government offices, and key stakeholders.

Record Keeping: Maintain meticulous logbook records for all trips, fuel consumption, mileage, and maintenance routines.

Child Safety & Representation: Uphold organizational conduct standards, serve as a positive role model for children, and perform additional operational duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV / O-Level) and a professional driving certificate from VETA, the National Institute of Transport (NIT), or an equivalent recognized institution.

Specialized Certification: Must possess a valid VIP Driving Certificate.

Licensing: Valid Class C driving license (or equivalent) kept up to date at all times.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience, preferably within non-governmental organizations (NGOs) or international development bodies.

Languages & Skills: Fluency in Swahili and English; basic understanding of child protection/child rights; strong interpersonal skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
