Role Overview
Perseus Mining (Tanzania) Limited is seeking an experienced Senior Mine Geologist to lead daily Grade Control (GC) operations in an open-pit gold mine in Mwanza. The role is directly accountable for GC block modeling, wireframing, supervising Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling programs, managing geological data integrity, and directing ore-waste delineation. The position also oversees material classification (NAF/PAF) for waste rock dumps, end-of-month reporting, and mine-to-mill reconciliation.
Key Duties & Responsibilities

Safety & Environment: Promote site safety standards, oversee JHA/SOP implementation, identify geological pit hazards, and enforce safe field practices across drill patterns and benches.

Team Leadership & Mentorship: Supervise, assign tasks to, and train Mine Geologists and GC Technicians in geological logging, wireframing, sampling QA/QC, and database management.

Grade Control Drilling & Sampling: Plan and supervise RC grade control drilling programs, oversee blast-hole sampling, maintain chain-of-custody protocols, and manage QA/QC standards (blanks, duplicates, repeats).

Wireframing & Block Modeling: Update mineralization wireframes and short-range GC block models to support ore mark-ups, short-term mine planning, and dilution control.

Ore Delineation & Waste Routing: Issue ore polygons and dig plans to Mining and Survey teams to prevent ore loss. Guide ROM pad stockpile management and define NAF/PAF (Non-Acid Forming / Potentially Acid Forming) criteria for correct waste dump routing.

Database Management: Validate, load, and audit all drilling, sampling, logging, and assay data within the central geological database.

Reconciliation & Reporting: Lead operational mine-to-mill and GC-to-mined reconciliations, analyze tonnage/grade variances, track dilution and ore loss, and prepare weekly/monthly technical summaries.
Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.

Work Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in open-pit mine geology and grade control (gold mining experience preferred).

Professional Membership: Membership in a recognized geology or mining professional body is desired.

Licensing: Valid driver’s license suitable for manual vehicles and open-pit mine-site conditions.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in short-range block modeling, GC wireframing software, geological database management systems, and QA/QC analytical protocols.
