Job Purpose

The Head of People is responsible for leading the organization’s comprehensive people strategy, ensuring alignment between business objectives and workforce requirements. This pivotal role oversees the entire employee lifecycle—from talent acquisition and development to performance management, compensation, employee relations, and HR compliance.

Serving as a strategic partner to the leadership team, the Head of People drives a high-performance culture, enhances the employee experience, and supports organizational growth and transformation.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Strategic Leadership & Governance:

  • Develop and implement the Company’s overarching people strategy, systems, procedures, and policies.

  • Act as a strategic partner to the Managing Director and leadership team, providing guidance on People-related issues and transformations.

  • Lead the implementation of the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and ensure strict adherence to all employment laws, including the Employment and Labour Relations Act.

Functional Oversight:

  • Coordinate all People functions, maintaining an oversight role on recruitment, selection, placement, and induction processes.

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the application of the company-wide performance management system.

  • Design and implement innovative staff training, learning, and development initiatives to build workforce capability.

Employee Experience & Relations:

  • Spearhead healthy industrial and labor relations, maintaining strategies for improved management-employee communication.

  • Develop and manage competitive remuneration and reward packages, structures, and procedures.

  • Monitor and enhance employee engagement, relations, and the overall quality of work life.

Restructuring & Change:

  • Undertake special assignments, restructuring projects, or change management initiatives as assigned by the Managing Director.

Candidate Qualifications & Experience

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Mandatory in Human Resources, Public Administration, Psychology, Business Administration, or Industrial Relations.

  • Master’s Degree: Mandatory in Human Resources Management (HRM).

  • Professional Certification: Mandatory in CIPD, SHRM, HRCI, CHRP, or an equivalent recognized HR qualification.

Work Experience & Technical Competencies:

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience in Human Resources within a reputable organization.

  • At least 3 years must have been in a senior HR leadership role.

Core Skills & Attributes:

  • Strategic People Leadership: Proven ability to develop and execute HR strategies aligned with business goals.

  • Business & Commercial Acumen: Understanding business priorities and translating them into practical workforce solutions.

  • Leadership & Influencing: Strong capability to influence executives, coach senior leaders, and build credibility at all levels.

  • Organizational & Change Management: Skilled in organization design, workforce planning, and leading the people aspects of transformation and restructuring.

  • Talent & Succession Management: expertise in talent identification, career development, and building leadership pipelines.
