Job Purpose

The Relationship Manager; Mortgage Financing is responsible for growing NMB Bank’s mortgage financing portfolio, establishing market leadership, and managing end-to-end relationships with key real estate stakeholders. This position leads sales strategy design, branch-network sales coaching, and portfolio performance tracking across the region.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
  • Portfolio Growth & Sales Execution:

    • Drive sales of mortgage products and embed a proactive mortgage sales culture across the branch network.

    • Formulate and execute regional sales strategies to expand NMB’s mortgage market share.

    • Appraise complex mortgage credit applications originating from branches above Relationship Officer limits and provide credit recommendations.

  • Stakeholder & Developer Relationship Management:

    • Establish, strengthen, and manage strategic relationships with key real estate stakeholders, property developers, and institutional partners.

    • Serve as the principal expert for mortgage solutions across the Northern Zone.

  • Branch Network Coaching & Capacity Building:

    • Build credit appraisal and sales capacity among branch managers and sales teams through structured training, mentoring, and continuous support.

    • Monitor branch-level mortgage targets, customer feedback, and market intelligence to recommend product refinements or redesigns.

  • Compliance, Risk & Quality Assurance:

    • Ensure full compliance with internal credit policies, loan book risk guidelines, statutory mortgage regulations, and customer protection standards.

    • Deliver high customer satisfaction through accurate, transparent financial advice and streamlined processing.

Qualifications, Skills & Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Banking, Economics, Real Estate Management, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years’ experience in banking operations, with at least 3 years specifically in Relationship Management or Credit Portfolio Management.

Knowledge & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of mortgage credit underwriting, regulatory frameworks, and Tanzanian real estate market dynamics.

  • Advanced credit analysis, financial modeling, and sales negotiation skills.

  • Excellent presentation, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to simplify complex financial terms for clients.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
