About the Project
Shanta Mining Company Limited is transitioning from open-pit to underground mining operations at the Singida Gold Mine. This expansion involves establishing critical underground infrastructure, including portal development and decline excavation. The company is recruiting qualified, experienced personnel to join the team during this early developmental stage. Qualified Tanzanian candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
All positions listed below share the following operational parameters unless explicitly stated otherwise:

VACANT POSITIONS & SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
1. Geotechnical Engineer (1 Post)

Accommodation: Camp Resident

Role Purpose: Provide geotechnical engineering support to underground operations through ground-condition assessment, data collection/modelling, and ground-support evaluation to maximize safety and mining efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
-
Conduct underground inspections to assess excavation performance, stope behavior, and pillar stability.
-
Collect and analyze geotechnical data from mapping, core logging, and testing to update models.
-
Manage ground-monitoring instrumentation, backfill QA/QC, and investigate geotechnical incidents.

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mining, Geological, or Geotechnical Engineering.

Proficiency in software like Map3D, RS2, UnWedge, Leapfrog, or Deswik.

Minimum of 3 years of underground mining or geotechnical engineering experience.

2. Safety and Training Officer (3 Posts)

Accommodation: Non-Camp Resident

Role Purpose: Implement safety management systems, deliver operational training, and assess employee competencies on-site.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct hazard identifications, workplace inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.

Develop and deliver practical and theoretical training (induction, refresher, and task-specific).

Coach workers in safe mining practices (drilling, blasting, mobile equipment operations).

Certificate of Ordinary Secondary Education (Form IV) or equivalent.

Current Tanzanian Blasting Certificate and a valid driving license.

3. Maintenance Foreman (2 Posts)

Role Purpose: Coordinate and supervise mechanical teams to ensure underground mobile heavy equipment and fixed plants are safely maintained and reliable.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan, assign, and supervise preventive and corrective breakdown repairs for underground fleets.

Lead maintenance crews, monitor productivity, and ensure compliance with technical standards.

Collaborate on shutdown planning, continuous improvement, and parts tracking.

Qualifications & Experience:

Recognized Trade Test Certificate in Mechanical or Diesel Fitting (Diploma/Advanced Technical Qualification is an advantage).

Minimum of 7 years of heavy equipment/mining maintenance experience (including 3 years in a foreman or supervisory role).

Supervisory experience with Sandvik underground machinery (TH663i, TH430, LH621i, DD422i, DL422i) is highly advantageous.

4. Maintenance Planner (2 Posts)

Role Purpose: Schedule and coordinate technical asset maintenance to optimize labor, parts availability, and equipment reliability.

Develop preventive/corrective job packages and short-to-long-term maintenance schedules.

7. IT Operator [Integrated Tool Carrier] (3 Posts)

Role Purpose: Safely operate Integrated Tool Carriers (ITCs) and heavy support equipment to move parts, pipes, and ventilation gear.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate ITCs with various attachments to lift, load, and position underground mining supplies.

Deliver materials to production, electrical, and mechanical crews across underground faces.

Perform routine pre-start safety checks and basic equipment lubrication.

Wire up underground infrastructure, pump stations, ventilation fans, and lighting.

Rectify minor circuitry, motor control, or electrical assembly faults.

12. Jumbo Offsider (3 Posts)

Role Purpose: Support Jumbo Drill Operators with machine setups, service connections, and bit/steel changeouts.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with tramming, stabilization setup, and hooking up water, air, and power lines to the Jumbo.

Manage drilling consumables, clean the drilling face, and assist with rod/bit changes.
-
Perform minor regular lubrication and pressure washes on the drill rig.

Qualifications & Experience:

Form IV Secondary Education Certificate or equivalent.

Minimum of 2 years of underground mining experience, ideally directly working with development drill rigs.
