About the Project

Shanta Mining Company Limited is transitioning from open-pit to underground mining operations at the Singida Gold Mine. This expansion involves establishing critical underground infrastructure, including portal development and decline excavation. The company is recruiting qualified, experienced personnel to join the team during this early developmental stage. Qualified Tanzanian candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

All positions listed below share the following operational parameters unless explicitly stated otherwise:

• Work Roster: 6 weeks on / 3 weeks off (6/3)

• Core Competencies: A strict commitment to safety compliance, operational excellence, integrity, and teamwork. All candidates must be medically fit and capable of working effectively in an underground mining environment.

VACANT POSITIONS & SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

1. Geotechnical Engineer (1 Post)

• Accommodation: Camp Resident

• Role Purpose: Provide geotechnical engineering support to underground operations through ground-condition assessment, data collection/modelling, and ground-support evaluation to maximize safety and mining efficiency.

• Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct underground inspections to assess excavation performance, stope behavior, and pillar stability.

  • Collect and analyze geotechnical data from mapping, core logging, and testing to update models.

  • Manage ground-monitoring instrumentation, backfill QA/QC, and investigate geotechnical incidents.

• Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mining, Geological, or Geotechnical Engineering.

  • Proficiency in software like Map3D, RS2, UnWedge, Leapfrog, or Deswik.

  • Minimum of 3 years of underground mining or geotechnical engineering experience.

2. Safety and Training Officer (3 Posts)

• Accommodation: Non-Camp Resident

• Role Purpose: Implement safety management systems, deliver operational training, and assess employee competencies on-site.

• Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct hazard identifications, workplace inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.

  • Develop and deliver practical and theoretical training (induction, refresher, and task-specific).

  • Coach workers in safe mining practices (drilling, blasting, mobile equipment operations).

• Qualifications & Experience:

  • Certificate of Ordinary Secondary Education (Form IV) or equivalent.

  • Current Tanzanian Blasting Certificate and a valid driving license.

  • Recognized workplace trainer/assessor certification.

  • Minimum of 7 years of practical underground mining experience (with at least 3 years dedicated to safety/training roles).

3. Maintenance Foreman (2 Posts)

• Accommodation: Camp Resident

• Role Purpose: Coordinate and supervise mechanical teams to ensure underground mobile heavy equipment and fixed plants are safely maintained and reliable.

• Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, assign, and supervise preventive and corrective breakdown repairs for underground fleets.

  • Lead maintenance crews, monitor productivity, and ensure compliance with technical standards.

  • Collaborate on shutdown planning, continuous improvement, and parts tracking.

• Qualifications & Experience:

  • Recognized Trade Test Certificate in Mechanical or Diesel Fitting (Diploma/Advanced Technical Qualification is an advantage).

  • Minimum of 7 years of heavy equipment/mining maintenance experience (including 3 years in a foreman or supervisory role).

  • Supervisory experience with Sandvik underground machinery (TH663i, TH430, LH621i, DD422i, DL422i) is highly advantageous.

4. Maintenance Planner (2 Posts)

• Accommodation: Camp Resident

• Role Purpose: Schedule and coordinate technical asset maintenance to optimize labor, parts availability, and equipment reliability.

• Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop preventive/corrective job packages and short-to-long-term maintenance schedules.

  • Coordinate parts, tools, and contractor requirements to minimize downtime.

  • Analyze equipment histories, monitor backlogs, and track schedule compliance.

• Qualifications & Experience:

  • Technical Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Maintenance Engineering.

  • Minimum of 5 years of heavy industry/mining maintenance experience (including 3 years specifically in planning/scheduling).

  • Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Experience with Sandvik underground fleets is a plus.

5. Electrical Foreman (1 Post)

• Accommodation: Camp Resident

• Role Purpose: Lead and orchestrate underground electrical maintenance, infrastructure setups, and compliance checks.

• Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan electrical installations, statutory checks, and complex fault-finding workflows.

  • Provide technical leadership to supervisors and electricians, managing quality control.

  • Diagnose complex problems with motor controls, generators, and distribution systems.

• Qualifications & Experience:

  • Full Technical Diploma (FTC) or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, alongside a recognized Electrical Trade Certificate.

  • Minimum of 7 years of industrial electrical installation and repair experience (including 3 years in a leadership role).

6. Electrical Supervisor (2 Posts)

• Accommodation: Camp Resident

• Role Purpose: Supervise daily field execution of electrical repairs, installations, and diagnostic work.

• Key Responsibilities:

  • Directly assign daily tasks to electricians, ensuring safety compliance and work quality.

  • Troubleshoot motor controls, instrumentation, and underground distribution setups.

  • Maintain detailed maintenance logs and shift handover records.

• Qualifications & Experience:

  • FTC or Diploma in Electrical Engineering with an Electrical Trade Certificate.

  • Minimum of 5 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience (including 1 year as a team lead or senior tradesperson).

7. IT Operator [Integrated Tool Carrier] (3 Posts)

• Accommodation: Non-Camp Resident

• Role Purpose: Safely operate Integrated Tool Carriers (ITCs) and heavy support equipment to move parts, pipes, and ventilation gear.

• Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate ITCs with various attachments to lift, load, and position underground mining supplies.

  • Deliver materials to production, electrical, and mechanical crews across underground faces.

  • Perform routine pre-start safety checks and basic equipment lubrication.

• Qualifications & Experience:

  • Form IV Certificate or equivalent; a valid Tanzanian driving license with heavy equipment authorization.

  • Recognized competency certification specifically for Integrated Tool Carrier operations.

  • Minimum of 3 years of underground experience operating ITCs or similar support equipment.

8. Fitter Mechanic (3 Posts)

• Accommodation: Camp Resident

• Role Purpose: Inspect, overhaul, and repair mechanical components on underground heavy machinery and fixed infrastructure.

• Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute scheduled preventive checks and rebuild mechanical systems (gearboxes, pumps, valves).

  • Perform basic structural fabrication, machining, and modifications as authorized.

  • Log technical findings and close out work orders accurately.

• Qualifications & Experience:

  • FTC or Trade Test Certificate (Grade I, II, or III) in Mechanical or Diesel Fitting.

  • Minimum of 5 years of mechanical maintenance experience with heavy mobile or mining plant fleets.

9. Auto Electrician (1 Post)

• Accommodation: Non-Camp Resident

• Role Purpose: Maintain and optimize electrical, computerized, and remote-control configurations across the underground fleet.

• Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and fix faults within starting, charging, safety control, and air conditioning systems.

  • Calibrate radio communications and machine remote-control attachments.

  • Utilize electronic diagnostic scanners and schematic diagrams to troubleshoot machine issues.

• Qualifications & Experience:

  • FTC or Trade Test Grade I, II, or III in Auto Electrical work (including AC and Radio communications).

  • Minimum of 3 years of heavy machinery auto-electrical experience (Sandvik fleet expertise is highly preferred).

10. Boilermaker (2 Posts)

• Accommodation: Non-Camp Resident

• Role Purpose: Fabricate, modify, and weld metal structures, pipe networks, and mining buckets.

• Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to cut, bend, and align metal pieces.

  • Perform structural welding and gouging safely in workshop and underground locations.

  • Maintain structural integrity of fixed plants, safety grates, and heavy pipes.

• Qualifications & Experience:

  • Recognized Trade Test Certificate in Boilermaking, Welding, and Fabrication.

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional structural welding/boilermaking experience.

11. Electrician (2 Posts)

• Accommodation: Non-Camp Resident

• Role Purpose: Install, perform routine checks, and fix faults on high and low voltage underground distributions.

• Key Responsibilities:

  • Wire up underground infrastructure, pump stations, ventilation fans, and lighting.

  • Conduct preventive testing on distribution boards, transformers, and cables.

  • Rectify minor circuitry, motor control, or electrical assembly faults.

• Qualifications & Experience:

  • FTC or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, or completion of a recognized apprenticeship.

  • Minimum of 3 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience (handling both HV and LV systems).

12. Jumbo Offsider (3 Posts)

• Accommodation: Non-Camp Resident

• Role Purpose: Support Jumbo Drill Operators with machine setups, service connections, and bit/steel changeouts.

• Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with tramming, stabilization setup, and hooking up water, air, and power lines to the Jumbo.

  • Manage drilling consumables, clean the drilling face, and assist with rod/bit changes.

  • Perform minor regular lubrication and pressure washes on the drill rig.

• Qualifications & Experience:

  • Form IV Secondary Education Certificate or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 2 years of underground mining experience, ideally directly working with development drill rigs.
