Responsibilities
The Quality Controller will be responsible for the following duties:
- Ensure the area to be charged is properly demarcated.
- Handle explosives by safely storing explosives on the bench.
- Dip drilled holes to ensure design parameters are achieved.
- Prime the holes to be charged with bulk explosives.
- Check initial and final stemming height during the charging process.
- Ensure correct stemming of blast holes.
- Spot the stemming loader operator as the loader traverses the charged pattern.
- Conduct housekeeping on the charged pattern.
- Assist with the final tie-up of the charged pattern.
- Act as a Blast Guard when required.
- Perform any other related task assigned by the supervisor.
Qualification requirements
Applicants must meet the following qualification requirements:
Certificate of Secondary Education or above.

Experience and competencies needed
Applicants should have the following experience, skills, and competencies:
- At least two (2) years of experience, preferably working in a drill and blast section or open pit mining environment.
- Must have a valid Tanzania driving license.
- Ability to drive manual transmission/stick shift transmission.
- Strong safety background and ability to drive a safe working environment and practices.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to troubleshoot and strong attention to detail.
- Excellent technical skills and ability to interpret schematics.

About North Mara gold mine
The North Mara gold mine is located in north-west Tanzania, in the Tarime district of the Mara region. It is around 100 kilometres east of Lake Victoria and 20 kilometres south of the Kenyan border.
North Mara started commercial production in 2002. The mine is a combined open pit and underground operation from two deposits:
- Gokona, which is an underground deposit.
- Nyabirama, which is an open pit deposit.
The process plant has the capacity to process an average of 8,000 tonnes of ore per day.
