Cooperative Bank Tanzania Plc (Coop Bank) officially commenced operations on October 1, 2024, following a nationwide cooperative movement aimed at capital mobilization and the strategic merger of Kilimanjaro Cooperative Bank and Tanzania Community Bank. The bank’s mandate is focused on transforming the financial landscape of Tanzania. Coop Bank is dedicated to enhancing financial inclusion by providing access to banking services for cooperatives, farmers, and unbanked populations. Additionally, the bank plans to leverage technology and innovation to improve service outreach and operational efficiency.
Coop Bank Tanzania was formally launched in April 2025 and operates with a strong commitment to commercial principles, while prioritizing the needs of its cooperative members and the broader community.
In line with its growth strategy, Coop Bank Tanzania invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to strengthen its senior management team by filling the following three executive positions and one managerial position:
Chief Technology Officer and Artificial Intelligence Officer
The Chief Technology Officer and Artificial Intelligence Officer (CTA) will be responsible in shaping the AI and technology landscape of the newly established cooperative bank. It offers the opportunity to drive AI-driven digital inclusion solutions for underserved communities and contribute to Tanzania’s digital finance vision for 2050.Job Posting Service
Reports to: CEO
Key areas of responsibilities include:
Technology & AI Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and guide the bank’s technology & AI roadmap to support digitalization and financial inclusion.
- Create AI-driven platforms for fraud detection, credit risk assessment, predictive maintenance, and customer service automation.
- Establish internal capabilities and a developer hub focused on AI/ML and robotics.
Infrastructure & Operational Excellence:
- Oversee technology infrastructure, including core banking, mobile/web banking, and disaster recovery systems.
- Implement IT service management frameworks and proactive monitoring systems.
- Lead integration with core banking systems and interbank networks.
Cybersecurity & Risk Management:
- Design AI-based cybersecurity measures for threat detection and fraud prevention.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, and national regulatory standards.
Financial Inclusion & Agribusiness Development:
- Promote digital platforms for cooperatives and agribusiness stakeholders.
- Collaborate on AI-driven credit models for digital lending and agricultural loans.
- Develop an Agribusiness App for data access and personalized credit facilities.
Operational Efficiency & Automation:
- Enhance operational efficiency through automation and digital migration of back-office processes.

Required minimum qualifications:
- A holder of Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Information Technology, Engineering or related fields
- Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence or Data Science, MBA, MSc IT or equivalent
- Working experience of not less than 10 years of professional relevant experience in the banking/financial services 5 of which must be in Senior Executive level with a proven track record of deploying AI/ML solutions
- Professional certification: CISM, CISA, ITIL
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and the Tanzanian digital finance ecosystem. Strong change management and stakeholder engagement capabilities
- Deep understanding of the Tanzanian banking landscape especially in cooperative or microfinance.
