Job Description

The ideal candidate has strong international accounting knowledge and speaks multiple languages to include French. The Senior Accounting Officer position is responsible for the readies and maintains financial and business transactions, applying accounting principles, which include work that is analytical, evaluative and advisory in nature, and that requires an understanding of both accounting theory and practice. The Senior Accounting Officer will serve as a team leader in the finance department and ensuring the department creates accurate and timely financial records for the organization.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to standards defined within the department.
• Reviews records of accounts to ensure accuracy.
• Coordinate auditing process with external auditors.
• Oversee monthly reconciliation and financial reporting for all receivables and payables.
• Develops systems for the maintenance of financial records, making use of current technologies.
• Creates forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel.
• Assist with budget preparation and management.
• Keep up to date on current trends, practices, and developments in the accounting and finance profession.
• Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge and Experience

• Experience and desire to work in a Global delivery environment.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks.
• Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure.
• Ability to adapt quickly to an existing, complex environment and learn new concepts.
• Fluency in written and spoken English, French and Spanish with strong interpersonal and communications skills.
• Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, maintain a professional image, pay close attention to details and manage deadlines.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent number of years of experience plus seven years of accounting experience.
• CPA designation, preferred.
• Tanzanian nationals only.
