Job Title; Fleet Supervisor (1 Post)
Job Summary:
Fleet Supervisor is responsible for managing a company’s fleet of vehicles and ensuring that they are maintained, compliant with regulations, and efficiently utilized. The role involves overseeing vehicle operations, supervising drivers, and managing the maintenance, logistics, and safety within budgetary while meeting company and customer requirement.
Key Responsibilities:
Fleet Management:
Oversee the maintenance, servicing, and repair schedules for all vehicles.
Ensure vehicles are properly equipped and ready for use, meeting safety and regulatory standards.
Track vehicle condition, mileage, fuel consumption, and operating costs to optimize performance and reduce downtime.
Driver Supervision:
Supervise, train, and evaluate drivers, ensuring they adhere to safety protocols and company policies.
Monitor driver performance, including productivity, fuel efficiency, and compliance with traffic laws and company policies.
Conduct regular safety briefings, training sessions, and performance reviews for drivers.
Logistics and Route Planning:
Coordinate and schedule routes to ensure timely deliveries and optimize fuel consumption and operational costs.
Monitor and resolve any issues related to route deviations, delays, or accidents.
Work closely with dispatchers to ensure fleet operations run smoothly and efficiently.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including vehicle inspections, emissions standards, and driver qualifications.
Maintain accurate records for each vehicle, including maintenance logs, accident reports, and driver certifications.
Ensure all fleet-related documentation is up to date and audit-ready.
Budget and Cost Control:
Manage the fleet’s budget, including costs for fuel, maintenance, repairs, and vehicle replacement.
Implement strategies to reduce operating costs, including fuel management programs and preventive maintenance schedules.
Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare and submit regular reports on fleet performance, costs, and driver behavior to senior management. o Analyze fleet data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and cost-saving opportunities.
Assist in forecasting fleet needs and contribute to strategic planning for fleet expansion or reduction.
Safety and Risk Management:
Promote and enforce safe driving practices and ensure that the fleet complies with safety standards.
Respond to accidents or incidents involving fleet vehicles and investigate causes, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
Implement risk management strategies to minimize accidents, damage, or liability.
Skills and Qualifications:
Experience:
Previous experience of 2+ years in fleet management, logistics, or a related field. o Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair processes.
Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations (DOT, EPA, etc.).
Skills:
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Good communication and interpersonal skills. o Ability to use fleet management software and other tools.
Problem-solving and analytical skills.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in logistics, transportation, or business management is preferred.
Certifications (optional but beneficial):
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) may be required.
Fleet management certifications such as Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) or similar are advantageous.
Working Conditions:
The role may require occasional travel for fleet inspections or meetings.
Work in an office environment with occasional visits to the warehouse or vehicle maintenance facilities.
Some irregular hours may be needed for emergency situations or fleet operations.
