Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT) aims to be the preferred provider of accessible specialized health services in Africa and serves – as healthcare social enterprise and through development programmes – the community and the most vulnerable. Committed to prevent lifelong disabilities wherever possible, CCBRT is also engaged in extensive maternal and newborn healthcare (MNHC) activities including obstetric fistula repairs. Since 2005, CCBRT also provides community and centre based rehabilitation services from the “House of Hope” in Moshi, promoting inclusive development at all levels.

We are looking for an enthusiast Wheelchair Technician to assist our seating clinic team in the provision of wheelchairs and assistive devices

The role

As Wheelchair Technician you assist in assembling, producing and customizing of wheelchairs and other assistive devices as per the requires specifications.

You will provide support to clinicians of the seating team when assessing patients and during the fitting of devices. You transport clients, equipments and supplies between the seating unit and the workshop as required. You ensure that each wheelchair and all modifications are technically safe before each fitting and before the user leaves the department with the new equipment.

You prepare the work areas and ensure that the area is clean and safe for staff and clients at all times. You ensure that working tools are in place and in a good working condition. You participate in outreach activities as required.

The candidate

• Form 4 certificate plus training in basic wheelchair services from a recognized institution
• A minimum of 1 year of working experience in wheelchair support
• Certficate in welding is an added advantage
• Flexibility
• Multitasking
• Good Interpersonal Skills
• Good communication skills in Swahili and English
• Has a pro-active attitude and eagerness to work
• Basic Computer skills
