Responsibilities
- The mentoring and training of the fleet maintenance team to provide a safe and efficient work environment.
- Develop and manage maintenance strategies to achieve operational objectives, particularly high equipment availability and reliability.
- Ensuring all activities are performed with a full commitment to health, safety, environmental and community standards and procedures.
- Determining the preventative maintenance and repair requirements of the mobile equipment fleet
- Identifying, implementing, and reviewing equipment strategies, including quality control procedures to ensure accuracy of all results.
- Preparing the longer-term training program to keep all mechanical maintenance personnel up-to date in technical upgrades and improvements to maintenance techniques.
- Ensuring continuous improvement in the setting up of the mobile equipment maintenance organization, required workshop tools, work procedures and inventory spare parts.
- Budget preparation and control during the execution of repair and maintenance activities
- Developing the local workforce.
- Supervision of the contracted equipment maintenance supervisors, maintenance personnel, warehouse supervisor and maintenance planning department
Qualification requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines
- Appropriate trade certification is mandatory
Experience and competencies needed.
- Experience with Production machines i.e.
Trucks SANDVIK TH540, TH551, TH663 - Development Drills SANDVIK DD420, DD421
- Production Drills SANDVIK DL311, DL420
- Bolter SANDVIK DS411,
- Cubex SANDVIK DU411,
- Loaders SANDVIK LH517, LH621
- CAT Graders, Maclean UV’s, Normet UV’s and Toyota Landcruiser
- Excellent attitude towards safety and commitment to zero-harm.
- Self-motivated and strong work ethic
- Sound problem solving and analytical skills
- Not less than 10 years’ experience in Underground Heavy Mobile Equipment
- Maintenance (HME) of which 5 years must be in a supervisory position in Heavy
- Mobile Equipment preferably with Sandvik or similar fleet
- Performing tasks under minimal supervision and monitoring
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Demonstrate high working ethics and conduct at all time.
