Reports to: Station Manager

Job Summary: To carry out trials and evaluation of commercial varieties for demonstration and advancement purposes in accordance with the Rijk Zwaan sales and crop strategy to increase Rijk Zwaan market share in East Africa. Role with content driven by and in coordination client management needs.

Job Location: Based, Arusha.

Duties and Responsibilities:

What does your day as a Trial Coordinator for Customer Care Center at Rijk Zwaan Tanzania look like? In this position, you are responsible for:

Sales & Marketing or Client Management

Create opportunities for sales & promotion of Rijk Zwaan varieties according to the commercial objectives:

  • Develop CCC annual trial plan and activities in co-ordination with PDS and Client managers.
  • With Afrisem station team support, implement trials, including sowing, transplanting, cultivation and harvesting to ensure product availability for client management purposes.
  • Carry out trial evaluation and tests (shelf life, taste, brix, etc.) as needed to gather data for business cases /promotion and assist in defining agronomical adjustments in varieties.
  • Hosting new, old or key stakeholders on-demand.
  • Support with training activities, detailed technical growing advice to growers, plant raisers and distributors to achieve an as high as possible market share for Rijk Zwaan varieties in Arusha region.
  • Contribute to drafting of crop guides and e-learning content as needed.
  • Support and participate in promotional and marketing activities of the company, such as demo days, exhibitions and seminars.
  • Support commercial activities primarily on the CCC site and externally with clients as needed.
  • With Afrisem station team support, carry out trialing and evaluation of pre-commercial products at Afrisem as defined by East Africa product development needs.

Reporting

Report about trial activities:

  • Share monthly reports on performed activities, including trials.
  • Support client management with creating business plans for prospective key clients.
  • Register pre-commercial trial evaluation results in Agora Trials.

Communication

Communicating with the relevant stakeholders:

  • Keep close contact with Afrisem station and the commercial team for the full co-ordination of the trials.
  • Communicate with relevant stakeholders within the Sub Sahara team.

Market research

On occasions supports Afrisem (commercial and breeding) team with acquiring detailed knowledge of the market:

  • Regional market for all crops developed in terms of segments, products and opportunities.
  • Reports on commercial opportunities in the area and activities of competitors.
