Background

LWR began its work in Tanzania in 1961 distributing food to a population suffering from a food crisis resulting from a combination of drought and floods. LWR continues to work in Tanzania with an emphasis on long-term food security and capacity strengthening of farmer organizations, linking partners and their members to financial institutions and other extension service providers. LWR’s programs reach over 300,000 people throughout the country, with a concentration in the Dodoma, Iringa, Mbeya, Kagera and Morogoro regions. In addition to a close relationship with the Ministry of Agriculture, LWR is a member of the public-private partnership Agricultural Growth Corridor of Tanzania (AGCOT) and our private sector collaborations are generating job opportunities for youth and strengthening the market for smallholder farmers.

Corus international is looking for experienced and talented Livelihoods Advisor to support Tanzania programs. The consultant will be responsible for providing technical support to the country team on livelihood programs including in coffee and cocoa sectors. The consultant should have solid technical expertise in key agricultural value chains in Tanzania, should be experienced in fundraising, working with donors and government and be able to develop efficient strategies, tactics and technical proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day implementation of project activities in collaboration with government of Tanzania and key stakeholders including the private sector actors.
  • Provide technical support to private sector companies, AMCOS and Associations for coffee and cocoa.
  • Work with partners in distilling lessons learned from project implementation and use that information to improve practice and to inform the next planning cycle. 
  • Facilitate stakeholder coordination and knowledge exchange by establishing strategies to disseminate findings through multi-stakeholder forums.
  • Work closely with partners to ensure that project deliverables are met within timelines while identifying pain points and proactively suggesting best strategies to resolve them.
  • Ensure implementation of a robust MEL plan that captures accurate data for decision-making, learning, and adaptive management.
  • Represent Corus International in public events and donor meetings and support the Country Director in resource mobilization. 

Qualification, Experience and Skill Requirements

  • Master’s degree in agriculture, international development, project management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 + years of experience in managing and providing technical support to large donor-funded programs in agriculture.
  • Proven track record of working with international donors (USG, EU, FCDO, BMGF, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of program cycle management, compliance frameworks, and risk management.
  • Strong experience in agriculture, especially in coffee and cocoa value chain, market systems development, or food system programming 
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili.

  • PPT presentations on specific technical topics
