Role purpose
Responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating the safety and occupational health component of personnel, materials, equipment, and environments to achieve safety effectiveness for the company
Core Responsibilities
- EHS Management System: implement and maintain OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 system and Maintain records both hard and soft copies
- Health and safety plan: Support the planning and implementation of Organisational health & safety plans and management processes, and monitor performance against same
- H&S Policies and Procedures: ensure H&S procedures and standards are implemented by employees and contractors
- OHS and Environmental Legal Compliance: administer both OSHA and EMA act legislation with primarily focusing on Legal appointments, first aid materials, HSE committee meetings, EIA, and Compliance License
- Risk Assessment: Ensure there is risk assessments for all projects and operational activities and appropriate H&S plans are available to control identified risks.Conduct and review risk assessment occasionally
- Inspection and Audit: Conduct inspection and site audits to all assigned Vodacom facilities, BTS sites , high risk projects and Contractors activities with the primarily focusing on i) electrical safety ii) electromagnetic fields iii) elevated and overhead work iv) fall protection v) confined space entry vi) optical fibre safety vi) motor vehicle safety
- Contractors Management: Conduct HSE vetting to all VTL contractors and sub contractors and provide progress report on contractors’ performance to ensure HSE compliances
- Independently audit the health and safety performance and monitor Suppliers’ H&S Management Systems
- Coordinate the administrative and governance activities of local H&S team and ensure compliance with Group H&S policy standards, processes and procedures
- Independently audit the health and safety performance and monitor Suppliers’ H&S Management Systems
- Investigation of Incidents: Conduct all related HSE incident investigation in Vodacom and contractors to determine root causes and develop corrective action plans for all incidents and report them on the monthly basis
- EHS Awareness Program: Develop training materials and Facilitate all HSE trainings, induction to all employees and contractors in your assigned Regions and develop monthly safety topics and communicate to all staff
- Reporting: prepare and submit timely and accurate month end and quarter reports related to HSE. This includes dash board, departmental month end reports and envoy reports

Qualifications And Training
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental Management or Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Certificate from recognized Institution.
- A degree in occupational Health& Safety or Engineering, Sciences, Building Technology and related fields
- Minimum requirement in NEBOSH IGC,
Added advantage is NEBOSH diploma
Knowledge in ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001:2007
Working Experience
- 3-5 years working experience in the field of Occupational Health, Safety and Environment
