SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Room Steward Supervisor ensures that the room stewards complete all tasks correctly and efficiently. Make sure product orders come through and monitor how well room stewards are doing, organize employee shifts, training, motivate team members and checking private and public areas for tidiness. The room steward supervisor provides training on how to best handle guests’ requests, maintain housekeeping inventory and stock takes in case anything needs replacement and order more supplies when needed.
DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
- Organize, supervise, and coordinate the work of housekeeping staff on day- to day basis.
- Ensure excellence in housekeeping sanitation, safety, comfort, and aesthetics for in camp guests.
- Prepare duty rosters, supervise, and manage room steward’ tasks.
- Ensure proper communication within the department by conducting regular meetings with the staff.
- Counsel and motivate employees on various duties.
- Maintain regular inventory and checking of furniture, linen, crockery, uniform, equipment in housekeeping department.
- Approval of supply requisitions for the housekeeping andmaintain minimum stock and cost control procedures for all materials.
- Check and ensure that all guestrooms, public areas, back of the house areas are clean and well maintained.
- Be responsible for efficient and orderly management of cleaning, servicing, and reporting for any repairs in guest rooms.
- Train room steward on the proper use of cleaning materials
- Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation policies in camp.
- Recommend service improvements to the camp management.
- Ensures that rooms are kept clean, free from hazards, risks and reports any danger may be harmful to the property, guests and staff.
Requirements
- Experience as a room stewards or similar role in the hospitality industry.
- Experience in a senior/Supervisory position
- Strong multi-tasking skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt to a bush environment.
- Commitment to a high level of customer service.
- Strict attention to detail.
- Knowledge of hotels, lodges, and restaurants.
- Ability to handle sensitive matters with efficiency and discretion.
- Knowledge of food and wine pairings is a plus.
- Certificate or Diploma in hotel management.
- Must be able to speak English fluently, other languages an advantage.
- Must be willing to be based in camps in remote locations.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years of experience.
