Job Title: Relationship Manager – Retail Banking

Reports To: Branch Manager

Job Purpose

The Relationship Manager is responsible for driving business growth by building and deepening relationships with key and potential customers. The role involves managing sales of liabilities, acquisitions, cash management, credit cards, and other retail products to maximize revenue and achieve assigned sales targets.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with an assigned portfolio of customers, serving as their primary point of contact for all banking needs.
  • Drive the growth of CASA, Fixed Deposits (FD), and Asset products within the existing portfolio and acquire new customers in line with business targets.
  • Achieve fee income goals through effective management of the existing client portfolio.
  • Provide personalized and professional banking services, including regular account reviews and customer consultations to promote informed financial decisions.
  • Identify and leverage cross-selling opportunities within the assigned customer portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain a sales and queries management database for performance analysis, branch reviews, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Branch Managers to identify key business issues, explore opportunities, and deliver expert financial solutions to clients and stakeholders.
  • Generate referrals from existing clients to support new customer acquisition.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the bank’s full range of products and services to effectively meet client needs.
  • Prepare and submit regular performance and position reports to the Branch Manager.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a similar position within the banking or financial services sector.
  • Proven track record in retail banking sales and client relationship management.
  • Strong understanding of retail banking products including liabilities, acquisitions, cash management, credit cards, and sales products.
  • Experience in structured trade finance, syndications, and project financing will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent ability to assess customer needs and design tailored banking solutions.
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with emerging banking technologies.
  • Highly motivated, confident, and results-driven with a strong sense of initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently under pressure while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
  • High energy level, ambition, and willingness to take on new challenges.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
