The key purpose of this role is to manage, lead and support the Quality Assurance team and to support internal customers (Plant Management – Logistics and Innovation/marketing) so that product quality and integrity are maintained across the value stream and business is conducted in an environmentally friendly and safe manner.
Key Outputs and Responsibilities:
Maintain safe, healthy and risk-free working environment
Implement safety, health/environmental procedures and legislation
Maintain safety and housekeeping standards
Manage Human Resources
Develop employees
Ensure a positive employee relations climate
Manage and apply personnel practices
Quality control governance for the brewery
Standards are in place and well understood
Training is done against the specified methods
Verification of the execution of the procedures to ensure that they comply with the standards
Ensure that equipment is calibrated and is functioning as per original standard
Highlight of any deviations to the Brewing manager, Packaging manager and Plant manager for action and stopping of the process when necessary
Manage quality control environment
Conform to value chain requirements
Manage Quality administration
Optimise the availability of measuring equipment
Maintain and control consumable stock levels
Optimise quality control management system
Optimise team performance
Facilitate effective team dynamics
Maintain performance management system
Communicate effectively in the workplace
Lead Quality strategy as per VPO
Improve quality compliance and management on site and reduce reputational risks for the site
Achieve VPO targets and Quality KPI and PI targets for the site
Key Skills and Competencies:
Understanding of process control within a brewing and packaging process environment
Assertive and analytical
Proactive
Proven leadership ability
Good understanding of the principles and practices of VPO
Knowledge of Core Laboratory practices
Communication / interpersonal skills to communicate at all levels
Conceptual thinker. Analytical. High level of numeracy
Problem solving
Conducts audits, interprets results and disseminates information to ensure operational efficiently
Sets and manages department costs within budget constrains
Ensures safety standards are adhered to
Develops Quality procedures and systems for approval and subsequent implementation.
Develops and manages the Supplier Partnership Programme
Provides leadership in the area of the application of quality principles and techniques across the value chain
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Food Science and Technology ,Biochemistry and Microbiology or equivalent
3-4 Years in experience in Laboratory, Brewing or Packaging operations
