Job Summary
Your primary objective as an QHSE Supervisor is to champion the implementation and effectiveness of QHSE policies and procedures, safeguard the well-being of all individuals within and around operations including personnel, contractors, visitors, and the surrounding community and exercising independent judgment and decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and report on all QHSE incidents and near misses. Analyze incident trends, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive QHSE documentation. This includes records of risk assessments and job safety analysis, training records, inspection reports, and incident investigation reports.
- Conduct regular QHSE audits and inspections. Evaluate workplace safety, identify deficiencies, and ensure compliance with regulations and internal standards.
- Provide safety training and guidance to HSE Officers and employees. Equip personnel with the knowledge and skills to work safely and identify potential hazards.
- Stay current with evolving HSE legislation and best practices. Continuously update your knowledge to ensure your approach aligns with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Incident reports: Investigating and reporting any incidents, accidents, or near misses.
- Safety audits: Conducting and reporting on the findings of safety audits to identify and address potential hazards.
- Regulatory compliance: Reporting on adherence to relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Performance metrics: Tracking and reporting on key QHSE performance indicators, such as injury rates, lost time days, and environmental incidents.
- Risk assessments: Reporting on the results of risk assessments and the implemented mitigation measures.
- Training and competency: Reporting on the completion of required safety training and the competency of personnel.
- Inspections and observations: Reporting on the findings of safety inspections and observations, and any corrective actions taken.
- Emergency preparedness: Reporting on the status of emergency preparedness plans and drills
- Risk assessments: Reporting on the results of risk assessments and the implemented mitigation measures.
- Training and competency: Reporting on the completion of required safety training and the competency of personnel.
- Inspections and observations: Reporting on the findings of safety inspections and observations, and any corrective actions taken.
- Emergency preparedness: Reporting on the status of emergency preparedness plans and drills
- Maintaining accurate and up to date QHSE documentation.
- Ensuring the implementation of QHSE policies and procedures.
- Take the lead in incident investigations and providing expert advice on QHSE matters.
- Staying up to date on relevant QHSE legislation and best practices.
- Implement a zero-tolerance policy for QHSE violations.
- Drive improvements in the QHSE management system.
- Implement a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating critical risks before incidents occur.
- Build collaborative relationships with stakeholders to ensure shared commitment to QHSE.
Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Relevant QHSE certifications or licenses (e.g., NEBOSH, OPITO). NEBOSH Diploma is an added advantage.
- Proven experience in an QHSE role, with specific experience in risk management and incident investigation.
- Strong knowledge of QHSE regulations and best practices.
- Exceptional communication and training skills.
- Lead Auditor/Assessor / Implementer Training on the following:
· ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System
· ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System
ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System
