Chama cha Uzazi na Malezi Bora Tanzania (UMATI) established in 1959, is an autonomous voluntary National NGO originally incorporated under CAP 337 in 1973, established under non-governmental organization act No 24 of 2002 in 2019 with registration number 00NGO/R2/000231. It is a full Member Association (MA) of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) accredited in 2015.
UMATI works in partnership with the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups and Regional Administration and Local Government (PORALG) with a goal of providing Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) education, information and services in Tanzania. The Assosciation has a long leadership history in SRH Programmes in Tanzania including pioneering in Family Planning (FP) services, SRHR Programmes for young people, integrated Clinics and Community based service delivery approaches.
UMATI with the support from AmplifyChange is implementing a 2 years project namely “Strengthening Young people’s Voice for Access to Integrated Comprehensive SRH Services in Morogoro and Iringa” from 2022 to 2024 to increase young people’s ability to collectively advocate for the fulfillment of their SRHR and to live free from discrimination, stigma, and violence. It intends to amplify the voice of youth-led WROs to effectively advocate for a coordinated approach for young people’s access to integrated, quality, youth-friendly SRHR information and services. Specifically, the project will connect young people advocates and health workers to work together using evidence-based approaches to address social, legal, and institutional barriers to Adolescent Girls and Young Women’s (AGYWs) access to integrated SRH services and information through joint advocacy campaigning, demand creation, and service delivery.

Job Purpose

Project driver will be responsible for the proper maintenance of the vehicle assigned to him/her and performs such driving activities as may be assigned

Key Tasks

  • Drives and takes staff involved in Association’s official activities to different destinations as shall be required.
  • Transport and/or pick up clients and/or packages to and from destinations.
  • Research and plan for traffic, construction and weather delays.
  • Interact with clients professionally at all times.
  • Ensure that the vehicle(s) is/are always fuelled and ready for use.
  • Arrange for vehicle(s) repairs as needed.
  • Report any technical problems associated with the vehicle(s) assigned to him/her.
  • Complete the vehicle log book(s) on daily basis recording each movement.
  • Despatch letters and other documents as shall be directed.
  • Drive vehicle(s) assigned to him/her in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Keeps the vehicle(s) clean, neat and ensures the safety of the vehicle(s) and tools.

 

 Qualification and Experience Requirements

  • Possess a Secondary School Leaving Certificate (Form IV)
  • Possess a valid and clean Driver’s license Class C with at least two (2) years of driving experience.
  • Excellent navigation skills and proficiency in using navigation applications to find delivery locations.
  • Time management and organizational skills to keep track of deliveries and stay on schedule.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients. • Skills in customer care
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission and values of UMATI

  • Willing to travel extensively within the project area;
  • Cultural sensitivity;
  • Pro-choice.
