The position

The Project Assistant is part of the core implementation team for the Tuinuke Pamoja project which aims to improve gender equality in Dodoma region. Tuinuke Pamoja is an ambitious initiative of Aga Khan Foundation and TGNP supported by the Irish Embassy Tanzania. The project is jointly implemented by Aga Khan Foundation, and TGNP

Major responsibilities

  • Participate on the planning the Project activities for the respective District on monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Support on the identification of the informal groups.
  • Support on assessing the training needs of informal groups.
  • Play a major role in strengthening the stability of Informal Groups, and collaboration in the implementation of the identified Gender Equality issues.
  • Maintaining a good working relationship with informal groups, LGAs, AKFT and TGNP.
  • Support on delivering project activities.
  • Provide hands on support to Community Groups to ensure timely and quality activities implementation in the field.
  • Timely flagging to project manager on issues that require immediate attention.
  • Support MERL activities including carrying out data collection.
  • Support on Coordinating field visits for project staff, donors and delegates.
  • Support Community Groups to report on project implementation progress covering activities accomplished, targets reached, and ongoing monitoring information. Identify potential success stories and learning from the field.
  • Promote women/gender mainstreaming and youth inclusiveness within project.
  • Supporting the establishment and implementation of monitoring and supervision mechanisms for the project activities at the community level.
  • Providing up-to-date information on the progress of the project implementation at the community level.
  • Collaboration and in coordination with other AKF, TGNP, LGAs, informal Groups in the project area to harness synergies
  • Building strong relationship with Community Development officers, community leaders and other stakeholders of the project at the district level for better performance and realization of project results.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the Program Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma in Community Development, social studies, Gender, or any other related field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in the field to promote gender equality activities through engaging informal groups, community and LGAs and other community structures and resources.
  • At least two years’ experience in working with informal Groups, in implementation of gender equality focused activities.
  • Ability in designing community mobilization, sensitization and awareness raising activities in Gender.
  • Ability to effectively collect and use data.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to prioritize workloads.
  • Self-motivated, good organization and management skills.
  • Ability to work with multiple tasks, demands and deadlines, with a positive and constructive attitude under minimal supervision.
  • Able to work independently and within a team.
  • Ability and desire to engage with communities and to support informal groups to undertake their activities.
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English and Kiswahili.
  • Computer literate in MS Word, Excel and Power Point and other relevant applications.
  • An unwavering commitment to the protection and safeguarding of others, particularly those in vulnerable situation.
  • Personal commitment to working as a reliable, honest, & trustworthy member of a team
