Job Description
The Network Administrator will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting our network infrastructure to ensure maximum uptime and performance. The ideal candidate must be a hands-on professional with strong technical skills and a proactive approach to network optimization, troubleshooting, and security management
Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and maintain LAN, WAN, wireless networks, and internet connectivity.
- Ensure 99.99% availability of the network infrastructure through proactive monitoring and preventive maintenance.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues involving routing, switching, firewalls, and wireless technologies.
- Manage and optimize performance of core Layer 2 and Layer 3 network protocols (e.g., VLANs, STP, BGP, OSPF).
- Administer firewall and security policies, including VPN setup, NAT rules, access control lists, and zone-based firewall
- Ensure timely backup and secure storage of device configurations.
- Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and change logs.
- Serve as Level 1 and Level 2 escalation support for all network-related incidents.
- Coordinate and communicate with internal stakeholders and external service providers to ensure adherence to SLA.
- Assist in IT-related projects requiring network involvement and infrastructure planning.
- Repair and recover from network hardware or software failures in a timely and structured manner.
- Participate in after-hours support rotations or emergency responses as required.
- Implement and manage network security systems to safeguard organizational data and infrastructure.
- Monitor network access logs and alerts for unauthorized activity or potential threats.
- Maintain compliance with organizational and regulatory security standards.
- Maintain updated inventory of all network hardware, tools, and spares
- Monitor the lifecycle of network licenses and ensure timely renewal and procurement
- Enforce standardized configuration templates across devices.
- Work closely with the ITSM/Service Delivery Manager to align network services with broader IT processes and strategic goals.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior IT staff.
- Document all operational procedures, incident reports, and changes in a structured knowledge base
Requirements
Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or related discipline.
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in IP network administration.\
- Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols: TCP/IP, ARP, DHCP, DNS, STP, VLANs, Port Channels, etc.
- Strong command of Layer 3 routing protocols (BGP, OSPF).
- Experience with enterprise firewall systems, VPNs, and network security technologies.
- Proficiency in Linux administration and CLI-based configuration.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise-grade network monitoring tools such as Zabbix, SolarWinds, or PRTG.
- Familiarity with wireless infrastructure, including 802.11 standards, SSID management, and RF planning.
- Experience working in Telco, ISP, or high-availability environments.
- Understanding of NAC technologies like Cisco ISE, FortiNAC, or Aruba ClearPass.
- Knowledge of cloud networking and SD-WAN solutions.
- Experience in implementing or supporting VoIP systems
Industry certification (Highly preferred)
- CCNA / CCNP
- Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate/Professional (JNCIA-Junos / JNCIS-ENT
- CompTIA Network+
- Fortinet NSE 4
