Nasreddine Nabi offered Kaizer Chiefs job, personal terms determining factor

Kaizer Chiefs have offered Nasreddine Nabi the head coaching job to replace Arthur Zwane, with SABC Sport sources revealing the two parties now remain locked in talks over the Tunisian’s personal terms.
The Glamour Boys last week made an enquiry to determine whether Nabi, who will be out of contract at Young Africans in Tanzania at the end of July, was available to take up the challenge in South Africa.

It’s understood Amakhosi have moved swiftly to try and secure his services once it was confirmed Nabi was keen and open to leaving Yanga after yet another successful spell, which culminated with a second successive treble on Monday afternoon.

He also guided Yanga to the finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, losing to USM Alger over two legs earlier this month.

Our story on Friday is believed to have sent shockwaves and panic in Tanzania, with fans of the club struggling with the idea of losing Nabi to their Premier Soccer League rivals – but this will only be a reality if Chiefs and Nabi agree on the finer details.

The latest coming out of Tanzania is that Amakhosi have since sent a proposal to the coach and he is mulling over it.

Nabi, the 57-year-old nicknamed the ‘Professor’ has previously worked in Sudan, Egypt and Libya, but it’s the achievements at Yanga that have raised his profile and brought interest from Chiefs.

SABC Sport has on good authority that Nabi is also considering offers from Saudi Arabia, Algeria and his native Tunisia – and these have recently come about after winning five trophies in two seasons with Yanga.

Chiefs are still mum on plans moving forward for the next season following Zwane’s first year in charge, which ended with the ex-Chiefs winger finishing fifth in the DStv Premiership without any silverware.

Zwane, who did admit he had his work cut out in the hot seat, signed a three-year contract at Naturena 13 months ago.
