Job Description
Vision Care is a non-governmental organization working to improve access to quality **eye health services** in underserved communities in Tanzania. The organization implements ophthalmic outreach programs, cataract surgical camps, and capacity-building initiatives in collaboration with partner hospitals and government institutions.
Vision Care invites applications from qualified Tanzanian candidates for the position of
Medical Coordinator** under two tracks:
- Clinical – Eye Health
- Medical officer

Duties and Responsibilities
Medical officer – Clinical (Eye Health)
- Coordinate and support **ophthalmic clinical services**, including eye screening, outpatient consultations, cataract and minor eye surgeries, and post-operative follow-up
- Coordinate on-site clinical activities during **eye outreach programs and cataract surgical camps**
- Work closely with **ophthalmologists, ophthalmic nurses, and optometrists** to ensure continuity and quality of eye care
- Support patient flow management, triage, and referral for eye conditions
- Support clinical documentation, ophthalmic registers, and reporting of eye health outcomes
- Participate in mentoring and on-the-job support for local eye health personne
- Support on medical stock and equipment management
- Liaise with partner hospitals, medical teams, suppliers, and relevant authorities
- Compile activity reports and support donor and internal reporting requirements
Qualification and Experience
- Diploma in Nursing (or equivalent), Ophthalmic Nursing, or a related clinical field
- Valid professional registration with a recognized council in Tanzania
- At least 1year of clinical experience, preferably in **eye health or ophthalmic services**
- Experience in cataract surgery programs, eye outreach, or hospital eye units is an added advantage
Skills and Competencies (Both Positions)
- Strong organizational and coordination skills
- Good communication skills in English and Swahili
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in MS Office applications(Word, Excel), ability to write report independently
