Expected duration: 3-6 months

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Library Assistant, interns provide the following support:

  • Assist in compiling daily news summaries from local, regional, and international media sources, including radio, TV, newspapers, press conferences, and interviews;
  • Assist in public relations and protocol services;
  • Assist in library activities such as locating online journal articles, responding to reference queries and carrying out circulation tasks;
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of Mechanism’s public relations activities, including drafting social media messaging and researching archival material for supporting visuals and outreach related to court activity;
  • Assist in responding to information requests and inquiries;
  • Assist in preparations for official visits;
  • Research, compilation and presenting basic information for use in the preparation and production of communications products/services;
  • Process information by cataloguing and indexing library materials and maintaining the library management system;
  • Providing guidance to library users;
  • Daily library administration; and
  • Other duties as assigned by the Library Assistant

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the Mechanism. Fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of French, Kinyarwanda or Kiswahili is desirable.

The duration of the internship generally ranges from three months to a maximum of six months. Please indicate your available start and end date for the internship in your motivation statement. Intern Specific text

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
