1. Construction Project Managers

Location: Kenya

Vallez International is a U.S. based international consulting and project management firm that is establishing offices in East Africa, now seeking resumes from bi-lingual (English – Swahili) project managers to assist with construction of future projects in East Africa.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the planning and implementation of project
• Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables
• Define project tasks and resource requirements
• Develop full scale project plans
• Assemble and coordinate project staff
• Manage project budget
• Manage project resource allocation
• Plan and schedule project timelines
• Track project deliverables using appropriate tools
• Provide direction and support to project team
• Quality assurance
• Constantly monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders
• Present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions
• Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs
• Project evaluations and assessment of results

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required
• 3+ years of project management experience with Federal/DOD/Government projects
• Proven experience in people management, strategic planning, risk management and change management
• Proficient in project management software
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong leadership skills and ability to inspire team members
• Ability to make important decisions under pressure
• Problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail
• Must be a US citizen and be able to maintain a security clearance
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment
• Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.

2. Construction Project Site Representatives

Location: Kenya

Vallez International is a U.S. based international consulting and project management firm that is establishing offices in East Africa, now seeking resumes from bi-lingual (English – Swahili) project site representatives to assist with construction of future projects in East Africa.

Successful candidates will have at least a two-year post-secondary school degree, and five years’ experience as a manager or supervisor of construction projects.  A college degree in engineering or construction management related discipline will be beneficial.  The ideal candidate will have computer skills including excel, word, and computerized scheduling with a program like P6 or equivalent scheduling program. 

Job responsibilities may include but not be limited to the following: 

• Coordinate the communication between the owner and architect during the design phase. 
• Develop cost estimates by generating a Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and unit costs of construction elements.
• Develop and maintain computerized project schedules with weekly updates.
• Facilitate communication between the contractor and architect and owner, acting as the owners representative to address contractor requests for information, change requests, and schedule and cost status. 
• Participate in weekly project meetings between the owner, architect and contractor.  Meetings may be in person or virtual. 
• Continuous daily presence at the jobsite and monitoring construction quality, work performed, manpower, and preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly project reports.
• Intervene and report to upper management when there are quality or safety issues on the project. 
• Assure that the local requirements for safety are being followed by the contractor.  
• Review contractor invoices for accuracy and completeness to assure that the payment requests are consistent with the actual work performed on the site. 
• Project close out to include closure of all contracts, costs, changes, and project documentation. 

Compensation will be commensurate with the education and experience of the candidates.
