Job Title: Gardener

Location: Olerai Lodge, Kisongo, Arusha

Job Summary

Olerai Lodge is looking for a skilled and passionate Gardener to maintain and enhance the beauty of our outdoor spaces. The successful candidate will be responsible for planting, pruning, watering, and ensuring the overall health of our gardens, lawns, and green areas. This role requires a deep understanding of landscaping, plant care, and irrigation systems to create a welcoming and well-maintained environment for our guests.

Key Responsibilities

• Plant, water, and care for flowers, shrubs, trees, and lawns.
• Prune and trim plants to promote healthy growth and maintain aesthetic appeal.
• Mow, edge, and maintain lawns to ensure a neat and tidy appearance.
• Apply fertilizers, compost, and organic pesticides as necessary.
• Monitor and manage irrigation systems for efficient water usage.
• Keep gardens free from weeds, pests, and debris.
• Maintain gardening tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Assist in landscaping projects and seasonal planting.
• Identify and address plant health issues promptly.
• Collaborate with management to enhance and maintain the lodge’s outdoor spaces.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in gardening, landscaping, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of local plants, soil conditions, and best gardening practices.
• Experience in operating and maintaining gardening tools and equipment.
• Familiarity with organic gardening techniques is an added advantage.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physically fit and capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Basic understanding of irrigation systems and water management.
• Strong attention to detail and a passion for creating and maintaining green spaces.
