JOB SUMMARY
The Finance Manager (FM) is responsible for leading the Finance Department in planning, directing, coordinating, and implementation of the day-to-day financial operations within KIUMA in liaison with the heads of departments. The FM is directly responsible to the Wortundtat, Germany, the CEO in Tanzania and/or a representative to KIUMA from the Donor and or Government.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the overall goals of the abattoir.
 - Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making by the executive team.
 
Financial Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
 - Ensure compliance with international accounting standards and local regulations.
 
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting process and collaborate with department heads to ensure alignment with company objectives.
 - Monitor financial performance against budgets and provide variance analysis.
 
Risk Management:
- Identify and assess financial risks, proposing mitigation strategies to safeguard the financial health of the abattoir.
 - Stay informed about economic trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes affecting the business.
 
Financial Operations:
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and treasury functions.
 - Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
 
Cash Management:
- Optimize cash flow through effective management of receivables, payables, and working capital.
 - Evaluate investment opportunities and make recommendations to maximize returns.
 
Audit and Compliance:
- Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate annual audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
 - Implement and monitor internal audit processes to identify and address potential issues.
 
Strategic Financial Decision-Making:
- Provide strategic financial insights to support key business decisions, investments, and expansion initiatives.
 - Collaborate with executive leadership to assess the financial feasibility of new projects.
 
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
 - Promote professional development and training to enhance the team’s skills and capabilities
 
OCCASIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Represent KIUMA in accountant’s meetings, seminars or workshop outside KIUMA such NBAA and TRA seminars.
 - Hold regular meetings with Finance Team to improve the Department Services.
 - Participate in KUMA staff committees such as Task Force Committee.
 
ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; MBA or professional finance qualification is preferred. (a CPA (T) / ACCA qualified Accountant registered with a National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA).
 - Proven experience in management of senior finance role and leadership skills
 - Knowledge of international accounting standards and Tanzanian financial regulations
 - Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills
 - Effective team player and leader with ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
 - A Certified Public Accountant
 - At least three (3) years’ cumulative leadership experience in a comparable position from a reputable organization.
 
EXPERIENCE
- At least 3 years of experience in Financial Management position.
 - At least 2 years’ experience in managing Donor’s funds with different projects.
 - At least 2 years’ experience in using accounting Computer Package especially SAGE PASTEL.

COMMUNICATION
The job holder is required to communicate with the following on a regular basis:
- CEO, Heads of departments and other members of staff
 - Donors.
 - Other key stakeholders such as Auditors, TRA, NBAA, Government officials, Development partners etc.
