Job Description

Coca-Cola Kwanza Ltd has an exciting opportunity in the Sales & Marketing Department. We are seeking a talented individual with the relevant skills, experience, knowledge, and expertise in Demand and Supply Planning to be based in Dar es Salaam. The successful candidate will report directly to the Sales Director.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

The Demand Planning Specialist will be responsible for delivering accurate 18-month rolling forecasts, optimizing forecasting models, ensuring cross-departmental alignment, and driving a data-driven forecasting process to support business objectives and enhance forecast reliability.

The role is also responsible for:

  • Delivering and maintaining a high-accuracy forecast over an 18-month period, integrating market trends, historical sales, and promotional activities to support business objectives.
  • Refining and optimizing statistical forecasting models based on weekly exception reports and data analysis, driving continuous improvement in forecast accuracy and overall reliability.
  • Ensuring effective communication and alignment across departments on forecast plans, providing clear visibility and facilitating quick adjustments as needed in response to changing business conditions.
  • Driving a data-driven forecasting process that leverages analytical tools, exception monitoring, and regular performance tracking to continually refine and enhance demand planning.
  • Collaborating with Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams to ensure alignment on demand forecasts, ensuring that sales campaigns and promotions are factored into the forecasting models accurately.
  • Monitoring and analyzing demand variability and identifying trends that may impact forecast performance, proactively suggesting corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Managing and reviewing inventory levels in collaboration with the Supply Chain team to ensure optimal stock availability, minimizing stockouts or excess inventory.
  • Establishing and maintaining key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure forecast accuracy, supply chain efficiency, and overall demand planning performance.
  • Leading the process of demand consensus meetings, ensuring alignment among stakeholders and obtaining buy-in on the forecast from key departments.
  • Conducting regular post-mortem analysis of forecast accuracy to identify root causes of forecast deviations, and implementing corrective actions to improve future forecasts.
  • Providing reports and analysis on demand trends, forecast performance, and key insights to senior management for strategic decision-making.
  • Ensuring the timely update and maintenance of the demand planning software and tools to improve forecasting accuracy and streamline processes.
  • Staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in demand planning, integrating new methodologies or tools that can enhance demand forecasting effectiveness.

Skills, Experience & Education

  • The incumbent should at least have:

Education

  • Formal qualification in Supply Chain Management, Business, Statistics, or a related field

Experience

  • 3-4 years experience in developing, managing, and maintaining highly accurate forecasts in fast-paced, complex business environments, ideally within a FMCG industry

Key Competencies & Attributes:

  • Strong ability to analyse and interpret complex datasets to identify trends, enhance forecasting accuracy, and implement data-driven improvements
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in validating sales data and historical records for reliable forecasting inputs
  • Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment of forecasts with marketing, sales, and operational objectives
  • Ability to quickly adjust forecasts and predictive models in response to changing market conditions, ensuring responsiveness to real-time business needs
  • Exceptional communication skills to clearly present forecast plans, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels of the organization
