Job Description
The Data Analyst (Officer) will play a crucial role in supporting the company’s vision and mission by leveraging data to improve agricultural practices and empower farmers in Tanzania. The role holder will utilize data analysis skills to extract insights from various sources, transforming raw data into actionable information that informs the programs and decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and deliver high quality visualization, data models and information products to support the Trust’s project activities to identify trends, measure program impact and evaluate project effectiveness.
- Collaborate with management to identify data needs, design and implement various surveys/case studies, develop data collection strategies so as to develop publishable reports/ manuscripts.
- Clean, organize and analyze agricultural data from surveys, field reports and other sources.
- Generate clear, concise reports and presentations that communicate complex data findings to stakeholders with varying technical backgrounds.
- Assist management in the development of grant proposals b
providing data-driven justification for program activities. - Coordinate the implementation of surveillance activities, especially in the company’s Zones.
- Stay up to date on relevant agricultural data collection methods and analysis tools.
- In consultation with management, identify, coordinate and lead in generation and analysis of economic data to inform policy interventions.
- Coordinate the company’s reports for board and management for appropriate decision-making
Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Agriculture, Socioeconomics, or a related field from a recognized university.
- Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python or R, deploying dashboards, using statistical software (e.g. R, Tableau), coupled with data visualization skills in tools like Tableau or Power BI.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to gather and interpret market data, identify trends and make data-driven decisions.
- Strong mathematical skills to collect, measure, organize, and analyze quantitative data is required.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Proactive, flexible and adaptable, with the capacity to thrive while working both independently and as well as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

- A minimum of three (3) years of progressive professional experience working in data and data analysis.
- Experience leading data collection in research or surveillance activities is required.
- Familiarity with the Trust’s specific cause area and its data collection challenges is beneficial.
- Demonstrable data analysis skills including proficiency in statistics and statistical packages like STATA, SPSS, SAS, etc. are required.
