Living conditions and remarks

There are about 61.74 million people living in Tanzania with 51% female population. The population is particularly concentrated in Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar City and their metro areas. Despite these urban centers, just under 70% of the people living in Tanzania still reside in rural areas.

Tanzania has a proud and long-lasting tradition of harmony; and a culture that places great emphasis on welcoming others. It is generally a safe and peaceful country. However, just like any other country it is wise to observe certain precautions, especially in larger urban areas.

The duty station is Dar es Salaam translated as the ‘Haven of Peace’. Dar es Salaam is the largest city in Tanzania, as the major port and economic centre. It is an international and multicultural city with a mix of religions. Dar es Salaam has a very humid climate and relatively stable temperatures
