Rift Valley Cooperative Union (RIVACU LTD) is a Secondary Cooperative Union  based in Babati, Manyara region. RIVACU Ltd was registered in 1988 under the  Cooperative Act of 1984. RIVACU LTD is currently operating under the Co operative Societies Act No 06 of 2013. 

RIVACU Ltd wishes to invite all suitable and qualified Tanzanian to apply and fill  the following available vacancy: 

CHIEF ACCOUNTANT (1 Vacancy) *RE-ADVERTISED

Nature and scope 

The successful candidate will report to the General Manager. She/He will be  responsible for safeguarding the financial resources, maintenance of books of  accounts, financial reporting and routine processing of transactions relating to  Finance and Accounts of RIVACU Ltd.  

Duties and Responsibilities 

• Supervise the accounts department and monitor financial information on a  daily basis; 
• Ensure that accounting records are accurately and properly prepared and  maintained in line with accepted accounting standards;
• Co-ordinate budgeting exercise including production of regular budget  reports and budgetary control;
• Chief advisor to the Management and Board of Directors on all financial  matters and administrative issues of the Union;
• Ensure all statutory returns are prepared and remittances are made on time
• Ensure the union complies with all tax matters i.e., VAT, corporate tax,  PAYE, withholding tax, etc.;
• Implement the approved financial regulations;
• Carry out transaction settlements in accordance with authorization  mandates and in observance of prudence and existing internal controls;
• Prepare and submit Management and regulatory reports to the Board; and
• Perform any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time by  the General Manager.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience 

• Holder of Advanced Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy/Finance or  related field from recognised higher learning institutions;
• Holder of an internationally recognized accountancy qualification such as  CPA(T) or ACCA registered by NBAA
• Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in a senior level position from a  reputable organization.
