SEGA programs include; 1) SEGA girls secondary school, 2) Program for post form A support, 3) Msichana wa Kisasa Community Outreach Program. The Sega girls secondary school located in Mkundi area, Morogoro Municipal provides quality holistic education for form I – IV with 50% of its students being from vulnerable backgrounds, on scholarship. Its mission is to provide quality education for girls which fosters the development of academic excellence, strong values, healthy self-esteem, and independent thinking skills, with emphasis on leadership, entrepreneurship, social responsibility and environmental care.
POSITION: Biology and Physical Education/Sports Teacher – 1 post
Major function
We are searching for a reliable and passionate biology teacher to join our faculty. The biology teachers responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, tests, and assignments, supervising students during investigations and experiments, and acting as a field trip chaperone. You should be able to teach students from different backgrounds, with varying aptitudes and interests.
To be successful as a biology teacher, you should be culturally sensitive, well-organized, and demonstrate insatiable curiosity. Outstanding candidates are not squeamish and can confidently explain bodily functions to teenagers.
Biology Teacher Responsibilities:
- Preparing and delivering engaging biology lessons to students from different backgrounds, who all have different interests and abilities.
- Monitoring student performance, and adjusting teaching strategies and techniques for improved content delivery.
- Establishing classroom, laboratory, and field trip rules and ensuring all students understand and accept them.
- Setting up exams, assessments, and experiments in accordance with curriculum
requirements and standards of the state and district. - Communicating any student issues to parents, counselors, and other relevant staff members.
- Attending school events, club meetings, and staff meetings as required. Representing the school at conferences, workshops, and other networking events.
- Coming up with suggestions to improve the Biology Department and general school operations.
- Building rapport with students so that they feel comfortable and safe discussing sensitive topics in class.
- Encouraging students to participate in science fairs, competitions, and expos, and preparing them for these events
Physical Education (Sports) Responsibilities;
- The role of the Sports Master/Mistress is to ensure that students are actively engaged after school hours in sports.

Responsibilities
- Develops a plan for sports for the year, developing and maintaining a rich, varied sports program, involving internal and external matches
- Develop competencies for physical fitness, and athletic skills, to guide the program; and monitor and evaluate students’ performance against those competencies, each term, as is done for the academic program
- Coordinates scheduling of sports and ensures schedule is carried out as per plan, reporting to Headmistress when there are problems
- Organizes students to participate actively in sports
- Arranges competitions and events with other schools regularly
- Coordinates with the entrepreneur coordinator to play grounds maintained, alerting the Headmistress of issues needing attention
- Ensures sporting equipment and resources are maintained in good order and accessible to students when they need them and used as per plan Outcomes
- Students have at least 3 days of physical activity per week
- Progress of students in achieving outlined competencies is assessed and provided to school administration each term
- Playgrounds are in good condition (once developed)
- Sports and other equipment are accounted for and in good condition Students have the equipment they need, when they need it, due to an effective access/storekeeping system being implemented
- Students have regular (at least once per month) games with other schools. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or Diploma in Teaching Biology and Physical Education as teaching subjects Three years experience
- Excellent spoken and written Swahili and English Ability to work well independently
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage, encourage and build the capacity of others
- Ability to communicate efficiently via email; and use MSWord and Excel Willing to live and work in Morogoro, and commute to school each day Females are highly encouraged to apply.
