Assistant Chef
Matteo Italian Restaurant – Arusha
We are currently looking for experienced Assistant Chef to join our team.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation: Washing, chopping, portioning ingredients; preparing salads, appetizers, sauces; setting up stations (mise en place).
- Kitchen Operations: Setting up equipment, maintaining cleanliness, ensuring compliance with health/safety/hygiene standards (HACCP).
- Inventory & Ordering: Monitoring stock, checking food freshness, discarding old items, placing orders with suppliers, managing waste.
- Cooking & Plating: Cooking dishes, assisting with presentation, ensuring quality and adherence to recipes, adapting to special dietary needs.
- Supervision: Delegating tasks to kitchen staff, training junior personnel, supervising cooks.
- Leadership: Stepping in for the Head Chef, managing daily operations, contributing to menu ideas, handling basic cost control.
