Location: Dar Salam, Tanzania
Job Summary:
The accountant will be responsible for managing and reporting of financial data of Africa Relief
and Community Development Tanzania. Their main duties include preparing financial
statements, examining and analyzing an organization’s accounts, and ensuring compliance with
financial reporting and other standard accounting procedures. The accountant will manage day-
to-day expenses, ensure financial compliance, and monitor the impact of interventions in
alignment with ARCD’s mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviewing all financial transactions and auditing them financially and systemically in terms of attachments, the accuracy of accounts, and the validity of signatures, powers, and receipts to ensure that they comply with the approved policies and procedures, and then record them manually or automatically according to their historical sequence of occurrence
- Reviewing and matching the monthly balances of bank accounts in the records with the bank statements of accounts, making the necessary settlements, and issuing and printing checks.
- Preparing the monthly salaries after financially and systematically auditing them in terms of attachments, mathematical accuracy, and the validity of the accreditation, ensuring that they comply with the approved policies and procedures, and sending them to the main center for review and approval.
- Preparing the necessary reconciliations for the office's accounts with the accounts of external parties that are dealt with to ensure the correct balances in the system, and following up the disbursement procedures for suppliers at the specified times for disbursing payments.
- Preparing audit scales and the required monthly financial reports and submitting
them to the concerned authorities, as well as preparing financial statements and
business results for the fiscal year. - Participate in the preparation of estimated budgets, the annual plan, the procurement committees, and follow-up, coordination, and participation in the inventory of fixed assets, treasury, and stores.
- Monitoring the actual results of the office and comparing them with the estimated budget, preparing periodic reports on the deviations between the actual and the estimated, explaining the reasons for these deviations and the necessary recommendations to address their causes.
- Follow up the existing financial Petty cash with the employees and ensure that they are replaced on the specified dates, and prepare the fixed assets register and record it on time and update it on an ongoing basis in coordination with the official in charge of the Support Affairs Unit before submitting it to the office manager.
- Coordinating and facilitating the work of the internal and external auditors and giving them the necessary information and details about the accounts and systems used.
- Practical experience and knowledge of tax laws specific to charitable institutions in particular and ensuring the correct course of action in the relevant authorities

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accountancy, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in financial Management with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing offices in international development.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and people management skills, including experience mentoring and developing staff.
- Proven expertise in financial management, including budget tracking, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with donor regulations.
- Ability to represent the organization at high-level meetings with donors, government officials, and other stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to report effectively to senior leadership.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in local languages or Arabic is an advantage.
